Hey mate, cheers for the advice. Would you recommend using something a bit more sturdy than thread tape to make the adjustment last longer, or even just weld them in place? Cheers
@blackllama1
@blackllama1 Күн бұрын
I wouldn’t weld them. You still need them to be adjustable. Once welded as your pads ware you will lose your handbrake. I just use this to prevent the adjustment being able to wind back and loosen off. Thread tape is probably the easiest. But you could use string or electrical tape. Anything that will pack in behind the thread and stop it winding back.

What are the three extra ties for? Have you used them? (I don't mean the guy ropes, just the small ties. You said at the start we will see what we use these for later!)
@blackllama1
@blackllama1 6 күн бұрын
Yes it’s later and I am still not sure what they are for.😂 I haven’t found anywhere they are needed. I just purchased 10 more of these and took them out of the bags as the kids just leave them on the ground. Only thing I can think of is that they go on the peg end of the ropes for visibality.

Hey am curious will it damage the fuel pump/injectors?

After 10 years of running a blend I just had to replace my injector pump. Unsure if I picked up bad fuel or it was the oil. But was told the pump had had water through it. So run at your own risk

Curious if this is still holding after 3yrs? They make a tool to pull the metal strap tight. Normally you don't see boots last if you only pull the metal tab by hand / no tool .. or... if you get grease on the metal surface under the boot where the strap squeezes down. Glad they make a split kit like this though.

Someone should remind this guy where oil comes from…. The ground!!!
@blackllama1
@blackllama1 23 күн бұрын
I am fully aware of this. Old car manuals used to say dig a hole pour the oil in and wait for the ground to reabsorb it. Unfortunately times have changed and there are lots of people that say it must be disposed of properly,

The thing I love about yours is it's the same colour as my Fzj80 94 😅 I find my 1fz-fe on petrol/LPG does go quite well, revs out nice and smooth and you're correct everyone thinks it's cool and says something to me about it, I would love to have driven a brand new one and not waited until they're 30 years old like mine to own one, it's a nice honest and hard working beast ♥

@@blackllama1 two of my uncles had them new when I was growing up, one non turbo diesel and one petrol, both white with black flares, I had the opportunity to buy the diesel one from that uncle, it was immaculate and priced fairly but I'd taken on a mortgage on a brand new home and was strapped and simply couldn't afford it, I've had a soft spot for them ever since, I'm 57 and just bought mine a few months ago and absolutely love it 😀

I just bought a second-hand one this week and it's fantastic... I use it because I have a back issue and it hurts swinging a whipper snipper all the time so this makes it better for me with my back in conjunction with my ride-on mower on a large corner block here in Melbourne.

Great intro into the world of electric chainsaws😊 I'm in the process of selling off ALL my petrol based tools!! I can see that in the next couple of years (before 2030?), petrol based tools will start the inevitable decline, as petrol gets more expensive, batteries get more powerful & cheaper, and regulations change around the noise & pollution of traditional tools 😮 California already has banned the sale of new petrol yard tools, for domestic & professional users. The rest of the world is following 👌
@kevinwhite2380

My existing saw is the Stihl MS180CQT, 14". I've had this brilliant tool for 20 years of both domestic & professional use. It's never faulted. A few years back, I looked at electric saws, but batteries & power were crap. Now, with EV's, the whole battery/power/charging landscape has completely changed. I feel we ALL need to move to electric ASAP, to alleviate Noise, Pollution and Climate Change 😊 And the final nail.... Electric tools are almost FREE to run. Especially if you have Solar 👌 Solar => EV => Tool What's not to like 🤔

Cheers for the video. I am currently in the middle of ignition lock assembly and starter switch replacement DIY and I am the original owner of a 1996 80 1fzfe GXL. Just installed all new Toyota steering ignition lock assembly and main starter switch, but still no power to ignition even though all installed . The reason is, I F'd up and tried to bridge the old switch during disassembly and think that I shorted something . Hmm yeh kicking myself. Anyway I created a new problem when disassembling the original when I tried to affix the starter switch " with cable ties of course" to the neck of the exterior neck of the ignition shaft lock assembly near where the key hole is. The original fault was a snapped steel key shaft within the steering lock assembly shaft/brace, it snapped at the switch end. Anyway I noted that if you removed the switch and kept the two exterior key sensor wires attached you can activate the vehicle. And I started it and and restarted multiple times in the shed. Then I thought if I could attach the switch where I could access it So I could drive it .Anyway I must have either stretched or Earthed a wire to an earthed metal surface. and accidentally earthed "some portion of the wiring and now now power except for a red tight in dash. But nothing on instrument panel (other than the red single light top right of panel assembly. So now after installing brand new switch Toyota Japan and lock assembly , all Installed OK but the same problem of no power, except the single red light in the instrument panel top right. The head light work and the open door indicator in the instrument panel works but nothing else when I turn th ekey. I suspect it could be an easy fix like a fusible link that I had no Idea of it other than I suspected there would be a trip , weak point. I'll give it a go. Any suggestions of other things I I may look at. Cheers Phillip
