I do think Oatey makes a brass body drain. Except I don't think it has the bolts. The bolts are key.

Shower and Yes. Not by me this was a service call to repair leaking shower drain. Tounge and groove flooring. All good not a problem

Why not use the vise grips on the metal part of the screwdriver instead of ruining the plastic handle?

Because that's where I have the best feel for tightness in this case. Plus not even close to destroying the plastic grip handle on the flat head screw driver. Vise grips really don't have a place in Plumbing. More of a Auto Mechanic thing

@jbhcrazyskills9508 because it doesn't need it. If I was cutting the plastic with Tubing cutters that puts a ridge on the pile then yes. Im cutting with a Sawzall bimetal blade that does not put a ridge on the pipe. Chamfering the outside edge is to eliminate pushing the glue out of the hub. Doesn't happen with ABS

You aren't supposed to use plumbers putty on plastic shower pans.
