Thanks for this - had the same problem with the rubber perishing, hadn't built up the courage to install the new part until I watched your video. Hardest bit was probably getting the old one out as the metal clips are hard to reach, in the end I just prised them off with a small screwdriver. Thanks again!

Great! Glad it helped!! I did the front window regulators and next I am going to do the rear wheel speed sensor. Those have been the only issues with the Kia
@liamodonnell76035 ай бұрын
Thankyou. I just performed this exact replacement. Before I ripped into it I thought I'd quickly check KZbin for any guidance and found your video. I would have done exactly the same as you first did if I hadn't watched your video. This is the only part to have failed on my 7yr old Sportage, well done Kia.

Glad it helped. My 2017 just had the driver’s window regulator fail. Other than that, it’s been awesome. I’ll do a video on that soon.

He also stated to mark the camera so you don't put it back backward, the camera only goes back in ONE way, IF you put the camera backward the maybe you should pay and have someone else change the switch, I also ffg don't know what he payed $135 for. As i stated before I only payed $14 for the switch on Ebay and WITHOUT removing ANY of the inside. panels.
@RonKnowsStuff27 күн бұрын
Yeah, I realized that later - you really can’t put it in upside down. I’ll look at it again but I didn’t see an option to pry the camera out so it was easier and less damaging to remove the panels. PLUS it gave me great content for the channel LOL! Thanks for watching. Feedback is appreciated

Wished I saw the video before I made the same mistake taking of the lower trim panel first LOL. Good information in just replacing the outer handle versus the whole assembly. Thanks!

I replaced my lift gate switch WITHOUT removing any of the inside trim, I removed the switch from the OUTSIDE with a flat head screwdriver, disconnected it, unscrewed the camera and removed the old piece, screwed the camera on the new piece and connected it. And again WITHOUT removing ANY of the inside trim, just four screws for the camera and a connector for the switch, payed $14 for switch on Ebay, so this guy is kind of wrong by telling you you have remove ALL the inside trim.
@RonKnowsStuff27 күн бұрын
So you used the screwdriver to pry it out? I didn’t see that as an option. Great score on eBay. I always forget to check there.
@pysooners185526 күн бұрын
@@RonKnowsStuff yes, I used a flat head screwdriver, I wasn't worried about the damaging the old switch and knew the new one would just snap into place. Maybe I should have made a video of how to replace the switch without removing any of the inside panels, you state in your video that you paid around $135 for something at the dealer, what was that for,?? the only thing I purchased was the switch for $14 on ebay.

Thank you for the video...Now to find someone that would be comfortable enough to try switching mine out. I have a 2017 Kia Sportage, what would I put in the search engine to get the right liftgate release handle? If you live in Florida, I'll come to you🙂🙂. Thank you in advance

I'm facing a somewhat similar problem in removing the hatch panels from an '09 Sportage to replace the hatch lock actuator. Any advice before attempting the surgery? Which fuse should I check to make sure it's good before doing the more involved panelectomy?
@RonKnowsStuff10 ай бұрын
Unfortunately I am not familiar with that year to advise you properly. As far as fuses, check the door locks, accessories, and perhaps the remote ones. The manual might give a better indication. Let me know how it goes!

$375 at dealership to replace, labor and part included. $135 for the part. Thanks for the video. I stopped tearing into it after there seemed to be a different way. I'm wondering how the parts working out now that you used it for several months.

My 2015 sportage trunk latch will not open externally, either manually or with FOB. All other doors lock / unlock normally. I can pop open the rear latch from the inside with a screwdriver. Will this repair the problem? Is the tail gate relay part of this replacement? The exterior latch assembly is in otherwise good shape. Thanks in advance!
@RonKnowsStuff3 ай бұрын
Unfortunately no BUT it will show you how to remove the trim panels to get to that latch. Remember to remove the top panel first as it exposes screws to remove the remaining pieces

How can u open the hatch if its stuck from inside car hatch wont open
@RonKnowsStuff21 күн бұрын
Oh no! Mine wasn’t stuck. Check the fuses to confirm power first. I didn’t see an emergency release like cars have but there should be an access panel to manipulate it open. Check KZbin for that. Sorry I can’t be of more service
