Replace the fuel tank quick disconnect adaptors on your BMW K1300!

**NOTE: There may or may not be a recall for your bike in your country and BMW may or may not replace the parts. If you don't want to do the work yourself, feel free to take your bike to your dealer.
My brother in law got covered in gasoline after his K1300 hit a bump. It turned out his fuel tank quick disconnect broke and that it's a common issue, which may (or may not, depending on country) be a recall. I purchased an aftermarket kit to replace mine, and it's a damn good thing I did.....

Dude - thx for the video. I was looking into how to remove the tank on my K in order to install an aftermarket booster plug to fix a stalling issue experienced in low gears... You convinced me to pay the dealer to install it! Thanks Mate, all the best.

Very entertaining video. Worth watching before you remove K1300 fuel tank. A bit like those old industrial safety films of how not to do it. Will prevent you making the same mistakes.

It's important that I re-iterate that you can ask BMW if these will be replaced for free. It seems that in many countries, BMW will do so.

My bike has a complicated situation: I bought it in England, it is now registered in Portugal, but I live in France and I am in the process of registering it here. That is, it is not simple for me to ask BMW UK if the bike had the recall done. I just did the replacement (preventive, it was not leaking) and the parts are identical to yours. I saw on the internet that the L connector is supposed to be plastic, so that in case of accident and the fuel circuit is damaged (eg, the tank gets dislocated), the plastic L will break and not the fuel line. This will hopefully cause the stopper in the female connector to actuate and no fuel spillage occurs. This makes sense to me, so if I would order the parts now, I would order the L connector in plastic again, and just make sure to replace it every 10 years or so ;-) But still metal for the female connector.

That white connector is designed to snap in case of an accident, thus cutting fuel flow. In case of an accident, it is designed to stop fuel spraying all over the hot engine. IMO you should leave the original plastic connector, to keep it doing what it is designed to do. To break if forced in any way (again, this is only my opinion)

At 9:32 you have 2 big red cable on the battery. my 2014 have only one of them. I wonder if this is the new harness modified to handle the issue of the bike not starting at hot temperature.
