Just did mine on my 05 MDX. Took me about 8 hours between 2 days. I bought the radiator for about 100 dollars and the labor was free for me lol. Hardest part was getting the bottom plastic skirting off without a clip tool. I improvised with a homemade fork. The clips that hold all electrical connections to the fans was a pain also. Just remember to bolt the ground back in or else you start smelling something burning lol. I'm sure I saved probably 900 dollars at the acura dealer and probably 500 at an independent shop.

Thanks for the instructional vid. The transmission cooler line stripped the threading in my radiator and I had to buy a new one. This helped greatly!

Thanks for the video! Trans cooler nipples "broke" on my daughters MDX, beckoning replacement. Your guidance was spot on! One thing to add, the right side (Driver's side) fan isn't bolted in at the bottom, it rests in two pilot holes. Also, by removing the steel line (again, for the Transmission lines) from the bottom of the radiator, that would provide a little more ease in removal (tight space between a/c coil and top beam). Thanks again, very helpful!

I’m having issues with my 05 mdx, just yesterday the temperature gauge went into red then I stopped and put coolant and it was as if I was putting water into open ended pipe, immediately gushing out at the bottom through a plastic opening at the bottom of the bumper, I can’t exactly see where it’s coming out due to the plastic cover blocking everything underneath. Any suggestions?

yinka santacruz Sounds like either the radiator hose or the radiator itself has broken.

How to Automotive I’m thinking the same too but I think if it’s the radiator itself water would be shipping out and it would have tell tale sign from few days prior but in this case when I pour in coolant from the top the whole thing comes straight out from the bottom with the same flow. If it is to do with hoses I should be fine but if it’s the radiator then oh dare replacing it in the public car park is the pain especially in this weather

How to Automotive with just 106,000 miles I didn’t see it coming
@yinkasantacruz67085 жыл бұрын
I pulled the transmission and the water is actually coming from the transmission cooler hole closest to the driver side, I’ve been told maybe the radiator is ruptured at the bottom on the top side of the transmission cooler section which means there’s a possibility the coolant might have found it’s way into the transmission. The hose on the transmission cooler line on the driver side is disconnected so the water is coming out of that plug hole. Waiting for replacement radiator.

Just removed radiator from my 2001 Acura mdx, I noticed the old radiator has a wire and harness, but the new one I purchased doesnt. Does that mean I got the wrong one? Everything else matches up.

Great video. I am doing an MDX tomorrow. I have done several Pilots and it is a little bit of a pain because of all of the little things to be moved or removed. It pays to use a quality radiator. The one in the 01 MDX I doing tomorrow literally exploded at the top tank by the cap. The hole is about 6 inches long and the radiator was replaced less than a year ago. I may want to get a new cap just in case that caused some pressure not to bleed off.

Question i had a so call "mechanic" take out the radiator on my Acura mdx 2006 . very similar to the one in this video. But the so call "mechanic" end up cutting a line that he should had not cut. Now looking at this video it look like the bottom line in the radiator. I order a new radiator and it does not come with that line. How is it call so i can order it. If you can help it would be appreciated
