Thank you for posting this video. I have the DC07 and have taken good care of the machine. Cleaning the washable filter helps a bit, but I was under the impression that the HEPA filter was for the lifetime of the vacuum. I just vacuumed some of the dirt out of the HEPA with my Miele vac! It made a big difference, so I've ordered 2 new filters. Your video was so helpful and saved me $$$. I was ready to trash the Dyson. For those that are worried about getting to the HEPA filter, I used a screwdriver to pop off the lid. It was easy and went right back on, no problem. I'm way out of warranty anyway!

Great video, thanks so much. I have had my DC14 for 6+ years and this time I am replacing the HEPA filter instead of paying a repair shop thanks to you. We have an Akita, and they 'blow' their coat twice a year. This vac is the only one we have had that gets up all the fine soft fuzzy undercoat fur and dander.

I've had my DC 07 Animal over 10 years - its wonderful. I have Himalayan (*long* hair cats) and I shed my long hair too. I clean the pre-motor filter once in a while and clean hair off the beater bar when it collects (every few months). Just checked (first time) the post motor filter - yes it's filthy so I'll replace it ($38.75). The internal hose has a few small cracks so I'll replace that too ($6.75). And a new belt to have on hand ($3.75). Cleaned the cyclones. First parts replaced. Champion.

Even locating the second filter was a real challenge, so thanks for this. My DC07 had a sightly different filter housing, with the old filter built in to the lid. Simply ripping it out and putting the new one in place seems to do the trick though - power is about 5 time what it used to be!

Had mine for 9 yrs+, & only just changing the HEPA, & the washable filter is probably on its last legs, so I'm going to re-invest with espare and get a new filter set. The bin is broken at the bottom, I've superglued the bottom release door, catch inside the cyclone broke off a year ago, but that is the age of the machine.

@JohnnyL8 - All the problems with this vacuum have been repair to BROKEN parts. I had to replace the roller brush at 11 months because all the bristles were worn off. The vacuum was used on indoor/outdoor carpeting and it ground the bristles right off. At 4 years the power switch burnt up. I removed it from its housing and one of the terminals at the connection was burned. I certainly didn't wreck these parts on purpose and they were very expensive to buy. Video showed all being replaced.

Hi Bill, most filters can be removed like an air filter on a car. Manufacturers spend a lot of money adding these on the more expensive cleaners so there must be reasons for it. The choice though in the end is yours. 😊

There is one more thing to do to make a Dyson that is down on suction as good as new, and that is to ***dismantle and clean the cyclone***. My machine was way down on suction. That turned out to be due to huge ammount of dust trapped inside the cyclone that no ammout of shaking or tapping could shift. Cleaning transformed it. Definitely an outdoors job if yours is anything like as bad as mine was. See the 'Dyson DC07 Cyclone Cleaning' video.

A HEPA filter is also supposed to filter out Barium Sulphate which is being sprayed globally throughout our atmosphere.

I've had my DC07 for ten years, and it still works as flawlessly as it did when I purchased it. The HEPA filter is not designed to be changed...although it sounds like some people are finding theirs to be dirty. I looked at mine out of curiosity - and it is fine. What are people vacuuming up??? This filters out fine particulates AFTER the air has already been filtered once. Dirt shouldn't be reaching the HEPA filter.

+Tom Fjord Most of the black dust on the HEPA is carbon from the motor brushes
@esparesvideo8740
@esparesvideo8740 8 жыл бұрын
+Will Vaszocz We had never thought of this but you are probably right. Most people who have front disc brakes are familiar with the brake dust that gets deposited on the wheels. In the same way the brushes on a motor will gradually wear releasing the carbon particles into the air stream. The only thing after the motor is the Hepa filter which catches it and prevent release back into the room.

Hi. I can't seem to release the filter from its case. You just put your finger in and pulled it with ease.
@eSpares
@eSpares 9 жыл бұрын
Faruk Barber The construction of the filter may vary depending on production changes but it should still be removed in this manner. It may be jammed by dust and soaking the filter and cover in warm water may help release it.

I'm trying to figure out what is causing mine not to seat well or stay down on the carpet. The last time I used it, I had to hold the front down with my foot for the brush to touch the carpet. What part holds it to the floor when tilted back? Or is it suction that pulls the brush to the floor? Help! p.s. The roller brush works and it has suction (maybe not enough?)
@eSpares
@eSpares 8 жыл бұрын
Most cleaners rely on the wright of the motor unit to apply the correct downforce for the cleaner. If you are used to a cylinder cleaner without rotating brush it may appear to be applying less pressure. This is compensated by the action of the brush, and if you apply greater force it may appear to give better results but it is increasing the wear on the carpet and the machine. If you are not used to the machine we would suggest you leave the 'pressure' alone. If it has suddenly reduced check/replace the filters and make sure there is no blockage, see a similar video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fqnImH-Dj5Z0eqs

i am unable to use the detachable hose when vaccuming in hard to reach places. (no suction) Nothing seems to be stuck or caught. The housing on the pre motor area doesnt seem to want to fully click/attach itself. Could that be the reason why i am not getting any suction?
@eSpares
@eSpares 8 жыл бұрын
+Drew M When using as an upright as you place the machine in the 'parked' position the motor noise should change as the air from the beater bar is blocked and only air from the hose is directed through the machine. check that the valve is moving correctly and directing the air through the hose.

Do not wash the foam pre filter. They dissolve after they get wet. I have bought numerous Dyson filters, and everyone of them falls apart as soon as they get wet. Our DC07 has to be getting close to 10yrs by now. Vacuum is good, pre filter, not so much. Just buy new ones. Didn't know about the other filter, Thank you, good video.

There are two types commonly used as shown here: www.espares.co.uk/search?SearchTerm=dc07%20filter The yellow foam filter shows an image of a tap to indicate it is washable in cold water. The purple HEPA filter is not recommended to be washed and does not have the tap image.

I am referring to the Pre Motor filter. The Yellow Foam portion on the two stage Pre Motor filter dissolves every time. It is possible the manufacture is selling lower quality filters in Canada. I disagree with Johnny. The hepa filter may be a lifetime hepa filter but as with all filters, it gets clogged. The meaning behind the lifetime warranty is that it will never allow any dust or pollen to escape, pretty easy claim to make when no air passes through it. You can't clean it so to return the machine to it's original effectiveness, you must replace it.
