Replacement Fimi X8 SE Drone Rear Arm (English)

The screws that hold this drone together are well hidden and certainly not easy to locate if either of the rear arms need to be replaced. I could find nothing on the internet or youtube about it so i made my own video.

Thanks for letting us know where the two hidden screws are - they are tough to get to! The lower board also has a locating tab that engages with the rear casing, so to lift the board, you have to push it forwards to disengage the tab. The X8 is definitely not the easiest drone to work on!

mine was picked out of sky to, bird strike,. fell around 120M snapped right arm moter of in sky, then it fell down, waiting for parts, and was going to remove broken arm, but that cover...., thanks alot, nearly broke cover.

dude. you have no idea.... i broke the same part of my drone (different arm tho) and i was sure that my drone would end up in the dump. i got hope that i could fix it and redeem my mistake.... you do not want the feeling of seeing your drone with THAT kind of damage..... (my dad was hella mad. the drone was a 'family' drone as in you gotta share. but i was the only one who knew how to fly. so it was sorta my fault. but i want to blame the wind which was very existent)

I've the August 2020 edition, found a crack in one of the arms. So looking to replace. Have brought the correct arm. So thought it would a be simple unscrew. Thanks for the video, about getting the back section open. But have seen that light blue glue on the points, how do you get that off?

Thank you for the Video. FIMI X8 SE and FIMI X8 SE 2000 arm plastic parts are identical. The wires need to be slightly rebuilt. I replaced my 2018 Fimi X8 with two broken legs with the 2020 Fimi legs. I would try to fly. Everything was fine, no error messages, the lights were flashing. When it started, it turned out that the engines of 2020 pulled more and the drone wanted to throw itself on its back. I have a question. Are the engines of 2020 special boats, or have I broken a gyroscope, for example? Maybe someone can help. Fimi spare parts for 2018 are not available.

My drone broke similar to yours. A different arm but the same wing part of the drone broke. I am watching how you are replacing it and now I am wondering how you got the replacement arm for your drone. I was wondering about the cost of the arm, the shipment, the method of how you got your replacement arm (because in no way there would be an arm in the box. I searched it!) how long it took for you to get the arm and if you need to give the receipt back or need it (the receipt part may be a problem because I'm sure we don't have t.) thx for the vid by the way. It gave me hope that we could fix it...

Good job Dan. Thanks for taking time and making video. I just ordered rear right arm for X8 as well as new housing, because the I have a crack on mine at the point where arm connected to body of the drone. Which tools I should have to change the arm? I ordered 1 x hex screwdriver of 1,5mm , will it be sufficient ? And Last question you not planning make video of how to connect arm ( wiring ,etc)?

Wiring required solder and shrink wrap to connect. Fairly easy to do

Thanks. I got my arm in and put back in the spring screw. But it won't make that clicking sound like my other arms when I unfold them for flight. Do you have any idea why?

The severed wires worries me. It seems to be a known issue, but Fimi claims that it is not. Did you check the wires on the other rear arm while you were in there?

I checked the other arm and it was fine but it wouldn't have been long before the wires that were stripped started to short out catastrophically.

@@danvid1935 It's a pity that they weren't able to make this right, and also that it is cumbersome to inspect the wires to rear arms. The front is easy enough to check, but as you've demonstrated, the rear is not.

@@mroek it's a real shame. Usually Xiaomi have great builds but the wire issue was just shoddy. It would have taken next to nothing to have done it right first time but quality control was absent on this one. Glad it was the arm that was broken or would have never known until it fell from the sky

@@danvid1935 Yes, it is a shame. I have checked the wires to the front arms on mine (at the time I checked they were fine), but checking the rear requires breaking the warranty seals on the screws, and is also a lot more work. It shouldn't be necessary to even think about doing it, but both yours and other people's experience says otherwise. Fimi claims to have tested this to 3000 arm movements, but that seems overly optimistic, especially since their production seems to not be able to get the cable lengths correct (which I think is part of the problem, at least).

Thank you very much for the videos. It helped me a lot. I changed the left front arm and the right rear arm in the meantime. In principle it works again, but I get the error message "VPU" - "Magnetic Environment - Weak". Does anyone have an idea?

I had to go to the hardware store to get some very small ones but I cannot remember which size sorry. I sold the x8 and got an m2p soon after this.

Dan, just wanted to know if u have an suggestions on how to fix a barometer error on the Fimi X8 SE 2020? I have this problem and it seems like no one has any solution on how to fix this. I restarted the drone so many times and still doesn't correct the issue. I have taken out the Fimi Nav 2020 app and reinstalled and nothing. I even done all the calibrations the drone requires and still have this error. I hope someone out there had a solution on how to fix this problem. I see no fix videos on here concerning the barometer error which shows on the app. I hope u may have an answer. Losing hope.

Very sorry mate. That's a tough one. I had a zino with the same issue and found firmware updates helped a bit but not much can help a hubsan in my experience. I would try doing a firmware re-install on the Fimi though and see if that might improve something. Worth a shot

Hey there, thanks for taking the initiative for make this video. Can I ask if you or anyone else has the error message "Motors Locked".. i have been unable to find out what this means and how to fix it. I am thinking that I will need to replace the motors for all ... any help from anyone would be wonderful

Hi. Not something i have experienced. Replacing all motors would be a very last option to try. I scoured the internet to find the issue for motor lock and there were some instances where firmware was the issue. Other cases where in the app they had checked that it will only arm with at least 6 satellites and fixed it by turning that check button off. If I hear of any other solution I will be sure to pass it on. Sorry I could not be of more help. I know how frustrating motor lock issues can be as I have had it with other drones. Glaring at you, hubsan.

I upgraded from the x8 not long after I made this video so memory is a bit hazy but I didn't actually replace that stuff. It would be just to insulate it. A bit of hot glue would probably do the trick too I reckon.

@@Colsos grabbed a mavic 2 pro as we do a lot of low light photography stuff at dawn and dusk and the 1inch sensor and higher megapixel count are perfect for that. The X8 is still a great bird though

Hi bro, do u know how to teardown the front motor? Just want to check if any hair or things stuck in the motor bearing, cuz my motor quite hot fast

G'day mate. Not taken the fimi motor apart before but they are usually pretty generic. After removing the motor feom the arm, they take a pair of circlip pliers to remove a small circlip under the motor and the top hub should then come free. Be carefully though as that circlip can be a pain and easy to lose. Let me know how you go.

@@danvid1935 no mate, u get me wrong. What I mean is just teardown the motor front leg so I can see clearly on the bottom of the motor. I'm only need to flip it over a bit just to see the bottom of the motor. I can do this with the back motor but not the front motor cuz the back motor only need to unscrew 3pcs screws and the motor is free to flip it over a bit. And the front one only got 2pcs srcews, but I can't figure out how to teardown the front landing leg(below the front motor) even after unscrew the 2pcs srcews. update me pls if u figure out how to remove the front landing leg cover (not the arm)

Hi DanVid, I saw your teach video on how to replace a fimi arm. I have two critical points that I can not determine 100%. One is the LED from the front arm on the right and the other is the antenna or where it is plugged in. The LED connector is for me just before the hose guide and I have a second black cable with a small square gold shoe that should be the antenna. The gold shoe cable goes under a piece of foam, I have not taken it off yet, but may just be plugged in.
