In terms of replacing DFissure/Macro there's a card called Different Dimension Ground, basically a Macro that lasts 1 turn. This may not sound impressive but there are three things to keep in mind: - Since it's a Normal Trap, unless the activation is negated, there is no way the effect can be stopped. - One turn is still a lot, considering how fast paced the meta is - Most importantly, Decks like Mermails can side it without hurting themselves in the process if they have to activate it.

Phoenix Wing Wind Blast is a decent replacement for Com pulse. The only draw back is that it sends it to the top of the deck instead of the hand and you have to discard. Its great in Fire Kings, though.

because phoenix wing wind blast targets, raigeki does not, meaning it can get over things that cant be targeted by effects. meaning it can take out an oblisk where phoenix wing wind blast can not hope that helps :)

No cards like fusion and synchro are inherent because it is a condition for them to be summoned but cards like megalo have to be revealed in hand first and there is a cost to them before they come out onto the field: So its reveal card in hand, discard for a cost, chain starts, monster summoned when its part of the chain resolves. Chains dont start when a synchro/fusion/xyz occurs because they are inherent :)

Well fro Dark Worlds the card Cheerful Coffin works as a good replacement for Card Destruction, basically it lets you drop three from hand giving you 9 dark world effects.

I've been considering running "Storm" in my Cyber Dragon deck. I have 2 DNA Surgeries, 2 Fiendish Chains and 1 Call of the Haunted. More often then not, within the next 2 turns, they end up being used up dead weight taking up space.

A thing I noticed when playing with my Rock Stun deck against Fire Kings is that for Garunix's effect to activate he also needs to be SEND to the graveyard, so I managed to negate the effect and destroy him while in the grave with Koa'ki Meriu Guardian. Saved me alot of trouble figuring that out.

atually if you are running equip spells a good replacement for heavy is release restraint wave which is like harpies feather duster with a cost and its at 3 also six sams have triple impact, monster reborn has a few spell replacements miracle rebirth, symbol of heritage (which is similar to premature burial) and for those who like to get opponents monsters autonomous action unit is an option and a 1500 life point cost is steep though, with compulse gone xyz encore gets a look in.

Just a note, trap hole only works on normal/flip summons, absolutely no effect on specials. Everyone seems to forget that part.

I play a zombie synchro deck this format with a destiny hero engine and use phoenix wing wind blast to replace a lot of the traps we lost. Works really well since many of the cards you will discard you want in the graveyard anyway and phoenix wing can be insanely annoying, putting a card on top of your opponents deck and making them draw it again is basically like making them skip their turn since they have to replay their previous turn with the same cards.

It can't, because a spell or effect like polymerization was activated to initiate the fusion. But it can kill any fusion monster that summons itself from the extra deck, like gladiator beasts, the v-z machine dragon series, or chimeratech fortress dragon.

There is a card called compulsory escape device which shuffles 1 monster you control and one monster your opponent controls into the deck and you could use it to replace Compulsory Evacuation Device

pinpoint guard only works in some decks but if you put it in the right deck it works really well it works really well the main one i know of is bujin getting back your yamato and they cant kill it plus you dont take any damage can help alot

I've been pretty much either maining or siding the D-DRAW engine with mally and diamond dude and since scape goat is at 3, Plasma is such a boss monster this format. He is so much fun and pretty much backs your opponent into a corner

There are more viable replacements to the staples that only work for certain decks. If you're using Hieratics, Dragon Plants, Blue-Eyes Spellbooks, regualr Blue-Eyes etc, you could use wingbeat of giant dragon to bounce a dragon and then nuke the field's ST cards. If you're playing dark worlds, you can use Gateway - which some say is better than reborn as you can use it in your opponent's turn, use it in the BP, etc. Another more generic replacement for Compulse is phoenix wing wind blast.

The problem is they put 2 versions of Special Summons now: 1. Inherent Special Summons: This is when the Monster Special Summons when the timing is correct. (i.e. Cyber Dragon). These have where they come from in parenthesis. You can negate these Special Summons by cards like Black Horn of Heaven. 2. Special Summons by Card Effect: These are usually from another card's effect (ie. Monster Reborn) or will not be in parenthesis (Ie. Gorz) with that, you have to negate the effect to negate the SS.

Back before you crazy kids with your XYZ and Synchros and 15 card extra decks came around, we had goat format. Pretty much there were a few tier 1 decks which all used the same epic play. The decks used 3 scapegoat (hence the goat part of the format) and the card metamorphosis. Th card allowed you to play goats, then activate it to summon thousand eyes restrict, which then immediately gave you full control of your opponent and take field control. Also, we had FUSION decks with 30+ cards in them.

Also for banishing is D.D. Crow, though it's not a trap and doesn't remove the monster from the field it does sit in your hand as a hand trap and does wonders against Dark world decks for removing Grapha and also removing nebra disk. Also if your opponet targets of their monsters in their grave to ss it you can D.D. crow their target and remove it.

thats why i suggested a give and take method, nowadays we are in a set 4 or 5 format and pass anyway and mirror force and fiendish are usually among the set cards. potential 5 for 1 cards that can be put in ANY deck like mirror force, torrential, dark hole should only be kept at 1 in a heavy storm less format and fiendish going to 1 would only balance having two bth in the game by not allowing ppl to spam 3 fiendish and 2 bth.

the banning of reborn made you play more toward the deck strategy of your element. Of course if you play element dragons, you can have all their perks. Earth decks potentially get additional reborning though scraps are the only ones that can successfully run soil/redox with consistency. Fire kings, Fists and Lavals get access to rekindling. Wind has quill pen of gulldos. Water has mechanics that manipulate the grave in general plus Salvage/surface.

I think what I've been using Compulsory for the most, is getting rid of monsters like Lead Yoke that can't be destroyed. I find a good replacement for this is Liberty at Last!, but even though it sends whole 2 monsters back to the deck, it still has major drawbacks. Phoenix Wing Wind Blast is also a great card, but I don't like it because you have to discard. I can't really think of others though, not really used to Compulsory being banned since it's like the first time in forever...

compulsive is good because allot of monsters can't be destroyed by card effects currently. So you want to get them of the field. Only option is to send them back to hand/extra. Changing compulsive by a destruction card is not rly an option

Malevolent catastrophe is really bad in most decks. When you consider that traps are meant to protect you and you destroy all your stuff in the phase when your opponent usually will kill you which is when you need those traps.

No, because they're Fusion Summoned with card effects. The only Fusion Monsters you can stop with Black Horn of Heaven are those who can be Special Summoned via Contact Fusion or the VWXYZ Fusion Monsters.

The other downside I can see to Malevolent Catastrophe is that some decks just don't have to give a shit about actually attacking until they're already very well done with spells and traps are just extra layers of protection. It is banned because it allows you to go +16 on average with zombies using double mizuki, double plague, and 1 Tour Guide. You need 2 mizuki, 1 plague in grave (works best), or 1 mizuki, 2 plague in your grave, along with a tour guide and reborn. You go tourguide into levier (+3) then mizuki plague.(+4) Reborn lv 3 (+5) then synch to Hyper Lib (+6) then Mizuki Plague (+7) and levi Mizuki (+8) synch (+9) draw(+10) top deck for plague, mizuki a lv 4 (+12) synch and draw(+14) overlay to bigeye(+16)

I thought black horn on worked on xyz and synchros! I was under the impression it didn't work on Judgement/Cyber dragon, it works on BLS? I thought it wouldn't since it banishes for its summon. For spells you could use curse of forbidden spell, Begone MST! >:D I'm not sure of this, but if you remove it fd Ik it won't get an e-dragon's effect but will you be able to resummon it by cards like return from the different dimension? Just put this idea out there for anyone who needs their monsters to be recycled from the grave. If you run Exodius the Ultimate Forbidden Lord. He can special summoned if u have any monster number in your grave. Late game or early game he can restock your deck. Also can be s.s in def so can be an block for an attack. I know you don't get the draw power that avarice had but it can recycle much more then it could and gets you a shield

What about liberty a last sure it's more situational. But the situation in which u would use it occurs often. You have a def position monster and your opponent pushes for game with 3 or 4 or 2 monsters. Okay gg your monsters gone. Then bam flip Liberty at last. and Bounce two of those back.

Catapult Turtle DMoC at your opponent's life points and bring him back from banished using Dimensional Fusion. Add Dimensional Fusion back to your hand, rinse and repeat. Spell Economics makes Dimensional Fusion free, your opponent dies. Dimensional Fusion is banned, but I assume players could still pull this loop off with Primal Seed, Burial From the Different Dimension, and other Spellcaster related shenanigans.

bottomless going to 1 was a huge mistake, bottomless is one of the biggest counters to the game's onslaught of game changing boss monsters like grapha, garunix, bls, sorcerer, judgement dragon, dad, kristya, ophion, master hyperion, monarchs, remd, breaker, lyla and so many more monsters. i understand they wanted to cut down trap spam with heavy gone but they could have gone about it differently with a little give and take. leave bth at 2 and limit mirror force/fiendish chain instead.

Player preference. Some cards you would rather destroy while some are better off returned to the deck. I would say raigeki break would be better against live boss cards like BLS, JD, DAD etc while Phoenix wing wind blast is better against xyz monsters. Saying only play one is the same kind of logic as do not play bottomless when you can play compuls. They are different cards that are outs to different monsters.

That's one scenario when Raigeki Break is a little better. Think About Zenmaines etc. that are hard to destroy or cannot be destroyed. Also top decking an opponent's card is really annoying if it is used against you. Opponent goes -1.
