I'm enjoying your channel and you helped with the converter in the last video I watched. Now, I have a slide out gearbox that almost rachets. It moves the slide in and out but it sounds like someone beating the outside of the RV with a sledge hammer each time the gear or shaft slips. The question is: Should I replace the motor/gearbox with the original P/N# R25076 or should I replace it with the P/N# 225008 like you did? It's the kitchen slide that's about 12' wide. Thank you in advance.

How do I get my slide out if it is in can I push it out to get access to motor and gear box
@hillbillyrv3 жыл бұрын
Is your motor/gearbox on the top or bottom of the room? If it is on the bottom you might be able to get to it. If on top, Remove the Faisha board on the top of the room. I have another video on this subject. Go check it out too.

Well you don't have to remove all the trim, just the top so you can access the motor and gearbox.

Bravo for helping that family in need. If we all were to give a little of our time and expertise to others this world would be a happier place. Giving of one's time is free. My apologies for being another individual seeking assistance. I'm disabled with social security to survive on.... Anyhow, a trailer is my home. I have it moved seasonally chasing affordable RV park rent. Last year my vanity slide decided to give me problems. It comes in but won't go out. I have to round up a few neighbors to help push it out as I press the button. The cables are all tight and the exposed gears have all of their teeth. The chain is also intact. Are there separate gears in the motor for forward and reverse or is it reverse polarity? If it's reverse polarity why is the skipping only happening going out if the exposed teeth on both exposed chair gears are intact, the cables are tight, and the internal motor gears are intact? Seems my thinking the motor has separate gears for in and out internally is the cause. The out gear must be stripped. Or perhaps a pin holding the gears is loose. Which is totally my fault for treating the electric slides like the hydraulic slides, hitting the button again to "snug them" once they're in or out. I did hear the clicking of gears jumping being an idiot snuging. It didn't register the first few times. Then it hit me. Gears.. not fluid. DOH! Now it appears my error is going to cost me. Cheers from a gorgeous fall day in Seattle. Cameron!

I have never seen inside one of these gearboxes, but I have seen inside plenty of others. One set of gears for both directions. I don't know what is wrong with yours.

Thanks for the video. I have a 10' slide which is heavy with couch, fridge and stove. Does the slide have to be supported on the outside before releasing the cables or will it remain safely in place. I've heard stories of the slides falling out? I have to replace the same gearbox as this which is poping and jumping every rotation. I'm assuming it's a broken gear tooth.
@hillbillyrv3 жыл бұрын
As long as it is structurally sound. No support is needed.

Loosen both but do not remove them. Then unbolt gearbox, slip out from both chains. Install new.
