Replacing an aftermarket oil pump with a Husqvarna OEM oil pump in a 440 chainsaw. In a previous video, I replaced the cylinder, piston, and a stuck oil pump in this Husqvarna 440. The generic replacement oil pump worked a little too well. Too much bar and chain oil is better than not enough but, when sitting, the saw leaks a lot more than my other Husqvarna saws. See the links below for the parts and tools I used:

Nice to see a channel where the presenter just talks about the task rather than taking 20 min to explain a three minute procedure.

Yep, I try to keep 'em short because that's what I'd want to watch. :) Thanks for the comment!

I have a question? I bought a brand new Poulan pro 42/18, it runs and cuts fantastic it leaks bar oil when it's just sitting. I know it's not a thousand dollar saw but it's perfect for my needs and runs awesome. What's your thoughts on why it would leak bar oil being brand new? It's leaked from day one

From my experience (mostly Husky), all saws leak bar oil. I stared hanging my saws on the wall, by their handles, with a small tray below to catch any drips. They seem to leak a lot less in this position.

There is always some oil left in the oiler line on the outside of the pump between the pump and the oiler hole after you kill the saw that will continue to drain it does not matter what saw you have there is nothing wrong with it it is just the way it works. If the entire oil tank empties itself then you have a problem but if it's just a little bit of oil and then it stops there's no problem.

@@bobbyhempel1513 Thank you for replying, I still have and use said saw. It is still performing like the day I bought it. It still does leak a little bit of oil when turned off but doesn't leak all out. It's still an awesome running and cutting unit. I only run ethanol free fuel with Echo Red Armor. I've never had any issues with starting it or even starting it after running for awhile. From day one, I gapped the plug to 30 thousands.

what may be the problem if there was too much oil going to the chain

I'm no prob but if you have a Husqvarna, the oil pump could be worn out. Once the tolerances increase too much, it causes more oil to flow. That's not a horrible problem to have though, too much bar oil is always better than not enough. Other brands, like Echo, have an adjustable oil pump where you can fine tune the output.

I have a Husqvarna 435 that is getting no bar oil. Cleaned bar ports , replaced oil pump assembly, blew out oil tank and still no oil. Any suggestions?

I'm no pro but the only thing I can think is that there's either a restriction somewhere or that the piston isn't turning. I'd try blowing out the little rubber tube that attaches to the oil pump as well as blowing into the little hole it seats into that goes into the oil tank. If all that's clear, then maybe something is wrong with the worm gear that spins the piston. Let me know if you get it figured out.

Thanks for your quick reply! I’ll check what you suggested. Your video on changing the oil pump was the best , and I watched quite a few.
