Mig weld.. punch tool and plug weld it if you don’t have a spot welder

We just did this to a 2019 Honda Odyssey. Granted the sliding door had to be replaced and fitted as well, but the repair was roughly $8200 so for this older civic, no door damage. Probably closer to $3800-$4400 depending on the availability of that paint

What are those instructions you have printed out at 4:00? Are those available for DIY-ers? Also, is that weld through primer you use at 5:42? And at 7:50, what is the stuff you put on and what’s the purpose?

They are specification insurance prints out so you will cut and weld where they want you to

@LetMeSeeThis99 I hope you’re just being facetious lmao but yes $3-4k. Depends what shop you go to. Labor rates are about $60-65 and up for body and paint. A quarter panel-bumper job like this pays a good shop 14-15 hrs, plus all the blending required on the rear door roof rail and gutters.

@@tanker242 for this specific car it probably pays 10-12 hours. Times that by $60 and your looking at about $720. I’d say closer to $850 tho after all is said and done, materials cost and otherwise

Great video. Why do you put those backer plates? And can i ask u why when i line up the panel and weld it to the rocker the weld itself closes the gap slightly between the door and the quarter panel. Thank you in advance.

I've got a 2009 corrola with rust on the roof near the windshiled, no doubt it's under the windshield where the roof meets it... Gotta make sure everything's lined up correctly before adding the caulking, incase you gotta remove it and adjust. Cleaner job

What tool did you use to get rid of the welding points before you took it off ?

He uses a "band file belt grinder" which is like a belt sander but just a little narrow belt that sticks out. There are also drill bits sold at harbor freight to drill these out. They might have been rivets instead of spot welds though I am not sure.

It’s easier to fair the seams when using a backer as opposed to a overlap.
