I'm from the North East and it still seems foreign to have this stuff outside. We have a lot of Snow and those would freeze and burst. That or people would be tempted to screw with them by turning your water off or messing with the pressure depending on where you live. Up here it's all underground below the frost line then inside for the shutoff.

Lol you’d die if you saw all the other stuff we have outside like the entire electrical panel, backflows for commercial fire sprinklers, backflows for commercial irrigation, irrigation timers, and much more. Also in the southwest you’d be hard pressed to find any basement and if you do it’s a fully finished basement with bedrooms, a sewage ejector pump, carpet on the floors and drywall everywhere else lol.

In most cases we only use steel pipe on natural gas on water we use copper like you see here pvc or pex jin this case I assume they wanted copper because it’s outside the uv from the sun can make pvc brittle over time

is it true that shark bites tend to leak after a while? if so how long is that period?

The fittings in this short are not sharkbite, they are ProPress fittings. However, to answer your question, sharkbites are warrantied for 25 years through the manufacturer, sharkbites tend to leak much sooner than that due to improper installation. There are a variety of factors that cause sharkbite failure including, not reaming the pipe causing the o-ring to be cut upon installation, not cleaning the pipe surface, and not pushing the fitting all the way onto the pipe. With that said, I still do not use sharkbites unless in an emergency situation as a temporary fix( I.E apartment complex leak, cannot shut off water due to either tenants not being notified or bad valve) use a sharkbite cap or valve(valve is much easier because you can open it, slide it on, then close it, making it to where you don't have to fight the pressure like you would with the cap). After the cap or valve is installed, you can come back and fix it with quality fittings after tenants have been notified or shut-off valve has been replaced.

He didn’t use a pvc female adapter though. He used a pvc coupling with sch80 nipple into the brass female adapter. Hope this helps

It’s service plumbing bud. Most companies have policies against filming. It’s not about the time it takes it’s about the liability of having a big screw up on camera. It took me 2 seconds to set up this tripod and hit record and probably 30 minutes to 1 hr to edit it. Also it’s not a competition. ‘Real’ work ‘real’ plumbing give me a break. The only thing that matters is bringing home the bacon
