great video... FYI the reason for the brittleness of the tub is from the sun... if you wrap them in reflectics, or anything that blocks the sun, it will keep that from happening and they will last

Paint the outside with X2 clear or paint by rustoleum. It protects against UV damage and you might get a few more winters.

Hi, young feller! I introduced you to Leon's Wicking Tub back when. You might remember me as "OgMandino" Happy to see it's working out for you. I'm an old timer. My "garden" is 5 gallon buckets on a sun deck. But the same technique works for me. Keep'er going and get'er done!

I looked at the forecast here in the Dallas area and no freezing temps for the next 15 days. So I took a chance and put 5 tomato plants out in containers today. Should the weather folks be wrong, I'll wheel them to the garage if necessary. Potatoes went in their containers last week.

Since you have the drip irrigation system feeding water from the top of the soil, why do you continue to use the the water fill tube? Thanks.

Sometimes I do but most times I use the drip hose Occasionally I will put some water soluble fert down the pipe and water it in to mix it up

Going to try an experiment and put a new southern high bush blueberry in my wicking tubs. Since they like to be moist and not dry out, it may be a good solution. Fingers crossed I ordered some Star blueberries and Hello darlin. Good producers!!

I think blueberries would do very well in wicking tubs. I don’t much about growing them, but I think you would skip putting lime in there. They need a lower pH.

Thoughts on using 25 gal grows Bags for Blackberries? my travelers not looking good in ground very few leaves this spring still not budding out in zone 8b south Georgia.

I've never tried it, but I don't know why grow bags wouldn't work for blackberries. I'd give it a shot for sure As a side note, I've tried Travelers but didn't have much success. They were in the ground too.

Like your channel. The split is why I don’t use wicking buckets etc. Don’t have a tractor available to do the heavy lifting, so it would be a bear to change out a tub for the average grower. You will have to replace every tub shortly. Too much to deal with for the the average Joe.
@BIGALTX4 ай бұрын
You could take the tub to a tree with a 2 wheel dolly and use a come-along to lift it from a limb. Just a thought... 👍😎

@@BIGALTX I appreciate the idea, but seems like a lot of trouble for growing items. I have grown tomatoes in buckets before but they never matched growing in regular soil. But, not knocking tithe bucket ideas, just not for me. Best of gardening to you.

Off topic but, last three years I have tried jalapeño plants from the garden centers. Different brands and all say large or jumbo. Come out about the size of my little finger. The Mexican grocer has large jalapeños, stuffing size. That is what I am looking to grow. What am I might be doing wrong? This is in Leon tubs. One plant in each tub.
