Nice vid, I have an 06 5AT that I plan on doing this for as well - over 230k miles on the original mounts. Curious, are you still on the original transmission in that car? (I would guess that it is original based on the mounts, but i was just curious)

A much easier way is to disconnect all mounts except for the rear engine mount, use two jacks and lift the engine and transmission evenly. This will give you access to the bottom two transmission mounts.
@GTSam

Yes, that could help. Could be tricky if most people don't have two jacks but could use stands possibly.

The "upper mount", you mean the top transmission mount? OEM parts are great and I agree but my car has 260,000 miles on it and I want it to run well but the price was just too much. So, I stuck with NON-OEM for this one.

I swore off aftermarket mounts after 2 of the 4 replacement mounts for my old CL didn't match. I just replaced the upper trans mount on my TL with an OEM mount and it was perfect. For the amount of work it takes to change these out, going OEM and knowing they'll work is so much less of a headache.

Just did all three of mine yesterday. Used DEA/MARMON RIDE CONTROL brand. They all looked identical to the old mounts and I had no problems getting them in. I hope they hold up but with 200K on the car I think they'll do just fine. I will confess though I did engine mounts too recently and went OEM with those. They seemed a bit more important. Also, thanks to GTSam for the video to show the way.

Hey GTSam. If you find that you want to remove that pesky lower rear transmission mount, there is a good TRQ KZbin video that explains how to achieve better clearance between the new trans. mount and frame hard points. You have to loosen some of the subframe components that you bolt the LR Trans mount too. Thanks for the great effort creating the videos. @@GTSam Sam, a bad thing happened. I over torqued one of the upper bracket bolts, and I'm pretty sure I can hear the thing knocking over bumps. I should have checked the owners manual! Anyway, I got nervous continuing to jack on the transmission, but it took more clearance than I expected to get the lower front one out. When I removed the upper mount bracket so I could complete the lower install, that's when I noticed it only can hold about 5-10ft lbs before breaking now. Because these cavities are into the frame, is it safe to just try a similar length bolt, but slightly wider?
@GTSam
@GTSam 3 жыл бұрын
@@seanclarke4061 Oh shoot! No good. If you were using like a huge breaker bar and an extension to the bar, way too much power. But do you think you are able to back it out without busting off the top of the bolt? If the top did bust off after you got it out a little, should then still be able to extract the rest of it with ease. That's a just in case. Or if you don't want to run the risk of breaking anything, might just want to leave it to not have more of a headache? Tough call... Sorry, you'll have to help on the last part of your comment. Which mount are you referring to? The front lower one has the two bolts on the top that go into the trans itself and then the bottom two bolts are welded in. The rear one has the bolts that go into the transmission as well.

@GTSam
@GTSam 3 жыл бұрын
@@chriztoph3rhammer750 Great question. I've had the CAI for years and driving many miles. The hole is from a welded mount that screws into the body with a wide rubber bumper to help with movement and shock. So, the weld actually broke and made a hole and since it broke, the filter started hitting around and did break off but I was able to use gasket sealer on it and holds really well now. Anyways, the hole was then re welded. It's aluminum, so might be tough. But NOW it's perfect again.
