Youre right... He wound the plumbers tape the opposite way on the 2nd time. The 1st direction was right. Clockwise as you look into the thread. Another wise Aussie 😊🇦🇺👍

When I do this my tap is never facing down. Always on an angle. How do I fix that

The tape is wrapped on in one direction, then the additional tape goes on in the opposite direction to the first bit of tape? I could be wrong but that's what it looks like. Please clarify many thanks.

hi there I wish to change my leaky tap in the kitchen used for the washing machine. its a wall type of faucet. I am able to turn the tap but it cant make a full turn as there is a wall adjacent to it. may I ask how do I remove it please? also, I measured the pipe to be 15mm. does this mean that the new tap needs to have 1/2 inch thread attachement?

He omitted to use a rubber 'O' ring/washer required to properly seal the tap to its fixing. Doh!
