Nice video. Thanks for the information. Especially the extra tip on how to put a switch. We are wanting to travel full-time as well. We spent last 2 years getting out of debt (except for the house). We had a camper, but it was financed. We sold it, and bought another camper with cash. ..... from a used RV dealer **BUYER BEWARE** He told us it had a leak but they "fixed it". Ummmmm this was in May of 2022. Flash forward to Sept 2022. We start doing some fixing it up, making more storage, going to change some fixtures, and change out the flooring. Yeah.....we found the dealer put in a board right across the main walkway, but left the perimeter of rotten / moldy wood. It was a mess. But luckily my partner is a great carpenter. So he tore out the floor and part way up the wall. The rear external corners were both leaking & a place on the roof. We bought a 2005 Sunline by the way. So the aluminum siding came off in layers, and he was able to repair the wood substrate. Put on a new PVC roof. Took all the windows out to reseal them, and again---- front window had leaked ---- had to rebuild front below the window. Now it is all back together, windows resealed, all exterior corners resealed with the Dicor corner repair kit. Now we are back to the "fun" stuff of decorating and making things ours. Recovered all the valances. Had to paint some of it because of the interior wall repair. New deeper single sink & new faucet installed. Also we are making as much storage as possible since we are going to be full-time. We are changing the floor plan from a couch & table to a dinette. So I wanted a prettier light fixture over the table. And I am grateful to have found your video on to use a regular 120 and make it 12V --- because the RV options are kinda, blah, in my opinion. Appreciate it so much.

You can but you would have to get a 12volt dimmer and a 12 volt dimmable bulb

One more question, can this method be used on any of the fixtures, for example the little plastic lights that exist in most of the rv? Or is it only possible over the dinette, and where the bigger fixtures exist? Thanks again! I bought the wrong bulbs, but I will reorder and get the project rolling!

Yes, this definitely works on the small plastic lights aswell, just won't work to replace the ceiling fan in the 5th wheels, those are 120 volts

No, ceiling fans need to run off of 120 bolts and will not work off of 12 volts, you also need to make sure you have a proper mount for a ceiling fan or it will come out of the ceiling due to weight

Help! loved the vid- just subbed👍 i got a trad fixture w/on -off dimmer switch to replace an old pancake light 🤮 i ordered 12V bulbs- wired black/black-white/white and bypassed the ground.... will a reg 12V bulb work or do i need 12V dimmable? Also do i need to re-route dimmer wire or will it simply not work bcs prev light had no dimmer- this dimmer on-off is built into fixture- very similar to yours on here only a dble VS single 👍👍

ty for responding!! and so quickly--- i am trying to get this thing ready to sell & have no one with electricity knowledge--- i got the bulbs but now my problem is that the new light has an on/off dimmer knob AND is a 2 light unit VS one.... i cannot get the lights to turn on/off no matter how i wire it.... ok so i have a black & white coming from new fixture on the switch- i also have a black & white wire coming from each light- and of course black & white from RV..... so how OR can i wire this to work as it should 😫🤷‍♀️

I would hook the wire coming from the switch to the black wire on the trailer and then the white wire on the trailer to the 2 wires going to each bulb socket @@melaniemiller4567

I changed Puck light with normal fixture. I have one done in slide out, now both are up and I have to pull on string on one light and then they both come on what am I doing wrong?

They are wired together through that one lights pull chain so they both come on at the same time, once you replace the other you will need to make sure you separate them

Why not use a kinetic switch, then you can operate the light wirelessly from a conventional switch on the wall.

Why would you worry about the color of the switch when you left 2 unsightly screw holes in the ceiling? I would have either bought a light with the same size (or bigger) base as the original, or I would have fashioned a very flat (1/8" or 1/16" think if possible) piece of white plastic into a round shape for under the light you used. Just me, but I'm picky when I do custom work.
