Nice walkthrough. We have a wonderfully talkative congregation pre-service so instead of playing background music we use Sunday Keys Tonic Pad in the key of the first song as background music. Works really well so people can communicate, no copyright concerns and makes a very nice transition to the first song.

Hi. We have a similar audio setup at our church in Australia. Qs: I’m guessing that you are NOT using a Soundgrid server? Does this affect latency and processing power significantly? Are you running the desk at 96khz or did you clock the desk to the computer and set to 48khz to improve performance? Also, what do you do about pitch correction in keys with sharps or flats? And, how do you get Mac to run a touch screen??! Thanks!!

Thanks so much for sharing! A couple questions... At 09:23 you mention how you set the TVs to automatically turn on and off at certain times. How did you implement this? At 10:03 you mention how you send royalty free music to stream only. How do you have output configured for other ProPresenter audio (e.g. if you were to play a video) and make it work separately? I tried before using two audio interfaces in ProPresenter7 but it didn't seem to work for me to separate the audio. At 11:35 for the broadcast audio, how are you embedding the audio into the HDMI signal downstream from the Dante adapter?

I try guessing how he made it, because we are doing some stuff the same way…. ;-) The wake up and shutdown time is a feature in the tv. The audio comes from Dante network and the AVIO is a Line Out (2x XLR Male) that goes into the Audio Input of the ATEM mixer. And the hdmi output of the ATEM includes that audio. Cheers.

1) This is a setting native to the TVs we are using... LG, I believe. Looks like it's a setting available with many newer TVs, though. 2) Sending music to the stream has to do with with using DANTE from the Pro Presenter computer. We assigned 4 channels of audio to that computer... 1&2 are sending royalty-free music to the broadcast room, and 3&4 are sending to a separate channel on the mixing console. This is what we use for sermon bumper audio and other videos during the service. 3) Audio for the stream is getting sent to the broadcast room via DANTE. We have an AVIO plugged in to the back of our ATEM video switcher. Then the video and audio both go from that to a Boxcastr device. It's really slick!

The Mac Mini specs are: Apple - Mac mini Desktop - M2 Chip - 8GB Memory - 512GB SSD (Latest Model) - Silver. It could use some more RAM memory, but does get the job done. The monitor is a Dell P2418HT

What AVIO will be used for the room mics? I thought all AVIO's were line inputs.

If you use another AVIO adapter on the receiving end, you can plug them into preamps on the board or stage box.

Alex, that doesn’t work. You won’t get real gain control when you connect Mic>DanteAvioInput>Network>DanteAvioOutout>Sounddesk. And this chain doesn’t make any sense. You want to change to digital an stay digital till you coming out of your desk. Josh, you are right. there is only Line in AVIO. Maybe they found out, while doing it after recording the video, that it’s not working. ;-) Or they are using a simple 2Ch Mic Pre with Phantom Power, that gives LineOut to the AVIO. You can set gain once and forget. Ad least you will have trim at the desk.

@@dennishoffleit Except you will. Ive done it before. The preamp is in the console (or stage box depending where the signal is sent). So you would be converting an analog signal to digital and back to analog where it would plug into a physical preamp and youd have gain control over that preamp. Im literally doing it right now. It might not be the best way to do it or make sense, but it still works.

@@dennishoffleit If you went straight from the mics into the Dante Avio Input and then used that input on your desk, sure you wouldn't have gain control. But when using the Dante AVIO Output, you are essentially converting the signal back to analog where it can be plugged into an analog preamp. It could be helpful in this sense. You have 4 analog mics in a catwalk. Instead of sending 4 XLR cables up there, you send one Cat6.

@@AlexShourds you might have a usable signal but gain staining is wrong. Plus from the line in you wan’t get phantom power for condenser mics. If you don’t run a proper gain with a preamp before the AD you will not use the full resolution of the ad conversion. And you could increasing the noise floor. And to convert the bad signal twice again will not fix the first gain missmatch. There is another thing that could help. There is an adapter (CAT Core) that brings 4 XLRs to CAT and back without any active analog digital conversion. It just uses the 4 wire pairs in the CAT cable. But it uses a single ground for all 4 channels. That can cause problems with phantom power. With that stuff you are using the preamp of the mixing board (or stagebox).

We have an SQ7 but every time I try doing VSC with Studio One, it changes all my gain to 0db on my board. Is that normal?

When you playback, the gain (red) switches to the trim (yellow) because you don’t have a preamp anymore.

@@Carlos-sy7ye when the analog signal is coming into the board or stagebox it’s getting “levelled” by the preamp. That preamp is adjusted by the gain. You adjusting how much voltage hits the analog digital conversion. After the signal is converted digital you are send it out digitally to recording. If you playing that back again, it’s coming back into the board with the same level as you recorded it before. So no need to change (0dB is no lifting (+db) or lowering (-db), but you could with (digital-)trim. And because it’s digital and doesn’t pass the analog preamp you only see trim and not gain controls. I would love to show you on the desk or signal flow chart. It would make it so much easier to understand.

It sucks that waves seems to be the only one who has this live sound infrastructure with their soundgrid and super rack stuff. Really wish there was a little competition from other plugin developers because after the whole waves subscription fiasco I have a hard time recommending waves anything to a client. Don't wanna support crap companies. The setup is super slick and cool though, I've always liked the system and plugins, super streamlined and sound great in service. Just disappointed it supports a company that uses exploitive update plans and tries to squeeze money out of customers.
