I'm replacing a Climate Control Unit in a 2001 Chevy Silverado, this was helpful! Didn't know that it doesn't take much to remove the dash bezel. Also didn't know that Summit sells refurbished climate control units. I'm a Toyota kind of guy, new to the whole full size truck thing. Thanks for the video!

This happened to me too. Did you ever figure out the problem?

Mine is the opposite.. Climate module works. Fan knob lost all speeds. Any info helps, thanks in advance

Same here with the fan knob. Only setting 5 works. Temperature knob, vent knob, and buttons all work fine. My fuses and relays were all good as well. Think we might have to replace the blower motor resistor

Update: just changed my blower motor resistor and it did fix my problem $32 fix

How did you eliminate the actuator as the problem? I have similar issues--including a parasitic current drain--but haven't been able to isolate the problem yet. Control doors seem to operate on their own unless I pull the 15 amp fuse that also controls the instrument cluster and radio. Any hints would be appreciated. We lived in Fort Worth for 5 years but never got to Summit.

I would get a decent ohm meter and see what, if any, current draw could be coming through that fuse you mentioned. With the key off, it probably won't read 0 current since the circuit is designed to where things like lights can be operated with the key off. Anyways, the reading should still be low. If there's a lot of current going through there, then that's another can of worms. You'd need to have a wiring diagram of your vehicle and trace out everything running to and from that fuse, checking them off the list until the issue is found. I just tinker with things, not a pro by any means lol 🙃 *Make triple sure your ohm-meter is set to measure amp draw, if you set the range too low and blow the fuse inside the ohm meter... well, better have a spare. They're common old school type small cylinder type fuses btw, just be sure to keep some spares handy!

Thanks for sharing your video. How were you able to identify that the Climate Control Unit was the problem?
@romymyszka52543 жыл бұрын
The climate control unit was not the problem. But the fix was to tear into the below dash area and replace everything related to moving air around the cabin. Since the truck was 20 years old and removing the covers, etc. is such a chore, I ordered all new parts and replaced them. No more parasite drain. And no more dead battery after 3 days. So blower motor, resistor, actuators, and the problem was gone.
