My 5 year old little brother heard my dad say he needed to stop and get gas before we went on a trip to Canada. While everyone was getting ready inside, my brother took the hose and filled the gas tank with water!!! 😣 I do not know how he got that gas cap off!!!!! He then ran in to tell my dad he filled the car with gas and we were ready to go. The look on my dads face!!! 😨 My dad did not even yell at him, because he knew he was just trying to help. My dad could fix anything. He pulled the tank, cleaned it out and we were on the road the next day on our trip! He explained to my brother that you have to use special gas to run the car. Thank God, my brother told my dad! If my dad started the car, it would have made a huge repair! That was 45 years ago when car repairs were a lot simpler then today.

Just a word of advice from a guy that has been a mechanic way longer than before you 2 discovered America. Please do not wear a watch or ring when working on mechanical things. Things can slip and hit your rings and smash them into place on your fingers and any type of jewelry that makes contact between a hot wire and a ground will instantly start glowing and burn the snot out of you. Take care of your fingers because God only gave us 10.

You 2 crack me up. My husband ran an old ugly Kabota lawn mower for 20 years. He says why buy new when you can fix it. I told him I would have a new baby if he sold it. One day I came home and he said look around. What is missing. Good lord it was the Kaboto lawn mower. Thank God I am 70 yrs old and he didn't want a new baby. So we bought a new used baby lawn mower.

Worked on cadets 63-88, so i have a thought: copies of manuals on internet. you must have fixed starting soionoid or wireing but i am sure the saftey switch may do it. I notice all the engine cooling shrouds are gone, very ill advised. The mule holds up the deck, never saw it. This is a great exampel of cadet durability. God bless you both.

You were talking about the bolts having lock washers on them, saying it is so they would not shake off and that is true, although in 1967 things were built to last and or be rebuilt. today everything is throwaway... Great little tractors, although I guess it is getting hard to find parts for them now days.. First time I ever saw the clutch apart on one of those. Sorry things didn't work out as smoothly as it seems it would... Best wishes.

Sorry Sam, that it's going to be another day of work that sets back your dreams but it will come to fruition. I know from what I see here that you don't give up and never say never if you have the belief to accomplish it! Angela, you're a trooper and I love that you use the tools as well. My favorite hang out if not in the decorator store is Harbor Freight.......I can't list all I've purchased there as there's not room but I've used all of the things and love it! Have my own tool box with sockets to include deep sockets and love everything about tools. I helped my hubby for years on his dozers and etc but those were a bit heavy by I could do some easier stuff........LOL You and Sam would have fun in our side yard....we have a lot of machinery that always needs something done to it. Hoping for good weather so we can get some stuff done here. Lots of cottonwoods to take down and dig out stumps etc......and a road to grade and lay fresh gravel.......does it ever end? NOPE. LOL Blessings and waiting for the next vlog!

Don't be too down Sam . It's fixable . Just go back through it , if you have gas and spark it will go . If I lived anywhere near you , I would call in to give you a helping hand , that was my trade in the early years . Mechanic .but I'm over the pond so . Sods law as we say . It's just an elimination process thats all . Go back to it with a fresh mind . You will solve the problems UC . Take the starter first ,could be just stuck with sitting so long . sometimes a tap with a wrench loosens them up or jump the solenoid try the old crank and tap method to see if it gets to spin . . You will find it no problem . Where did you learn your mechanical skills . Your a handy fella . Can you build a pick up bed like your brother did , seen that yesterday . He's a funny guy 4 sure . Chin up Sam carry on regardless . Keep up the good work . Get Angela to give it one of her specialist demo hammer taps . 😂. .

I used to have a Cub Cadet with this same type Starter/Gen. I'm not a big fan of these. Loved the tractor though. The newer starters and Flywheel type are in my opinion a much better set up. These were real work horse tractors very strong machines, mine was Hydrostatic with hi and low range. I believe it'd pull a full size pickup truck. You and Angela will getter fixed.

You don’t have to take grill off,nor unbolt engine to do this. Disconnect drive shaft in front of transmission. Undo the hanger that the pedal attaches to. That drive shift will lift out of there on the right side of the tractor. Done it several times on a cub cadet 108. Maybe this older one not work that way, don’t know. Replace throw out bearing, teaser spring, and any bushings. Clamp shaft in vise, tap gently to compress spring, drive out roll pin. Replace plates. Don’t get wd40 on those plates! There are some videos of how to compress the spring.

You can put the ground on the frame and positive from jumpers cables to the positive of the starter to see if your solenoid is bad.if it turns over then it's your solenoid.

I have a 102 which sat for a couple of years, and the starter-gen locked up with rust. I took it apart and replaced the bearings, and it's as good as new. You might have the same issue, or maybe you solenoid is bad. Put a screwdriver across your main solenoid terminals and see if you get the s-g to turn.

Sam and Angela, I know if you are o.k. i will be o.k. The only thing that would be worse is if you had it completely fixed and you were geared up and started to be on a roll and it broke again. I don't know why, I guess I am a different kind of person. I have learned to comfort myself by thinking it could be worse. I think I could get myself into trouble depending on what the original thing was. You know...I broke my leg. Well, I guess it's better than breaking both legs. hahha I am proud of both of you! It's very discouraging but you will keep going! Take care & God Bless.

Yeah, there was a follow up video on this one not long afterwards. It was the starter generator rusted up. I took it apart, cleaned it, and it worked. :) But now we've gotta ask... are you watching us from on that hill over there? We were working on it again yesterday! LOL Clutch teaser spring was broken, so I rebuilt the driveshaft/spring/bearing assembly. We're fixing it and cleaning it up to sell -- we don't use it much and hate to see it just sit around.

Hello, I think your tractor will start if you connect all of the electrical back onto the tractor. I heard something clunking when you tried to start it. It sounds like a solenoid engaging but it’s not turning the engine. You mentioned that it has a starter/generator...if that’s true then the generator on the front of the engine also acts as the starter. Reconnecting the regulator and grounds to the main chassis should make everything work properly. Hope this helps.

Take the belt off and see if it run by itself. If it does then check the engine to make sure it is not locked up. If not connect a battery directly to the generator without the belt. It should run like a motor. If it does then reinstall the belt. Then try again with the battery direct.
