Mercedes gave me 15 years/150K miles warranty and fixed it for free. Please check with your Mercedes dealer. It has a known issue they will replace the head ( with better head and valves)

Just had this issue and took 2021GLC and was informed by Rep, that certain GLC and GLB had this issue, not all GLC or GLB only a few had faulty cylinders, but thankfully it's getting fixed free of charge.

Howdy, I noticed that you are removing keepers from the new head / valves? Just wanted to get clarification on that if you could. Thank you in advance!

You don’t use the cam hold down tools? I saw you just remove the cams with adjusters never seen someone do it like that lol.

I came here hoping to get faster at doing these. Do you have any suggestions for the FWD models? Do you remove it with the turbo? And how comfortable are you with not putting the rockers exactly where you got them, I guess it's fine as long as you don't mix intake and exhaust? Anything helps! Have a great day!

The best way to remove this cylinder head is with turbo.

Why did this fail on such a new engine? Are the m264’s plagued with problems?

It's part of Mercedes engineer.

Some of them come with faulty valve seats from factory causing misfires and fuel/air mixture issues. Mercedes fix for this is replacing the cylinder head.

@@alexrichard9533 How do I know if my model Mercedes is affected? is this a recall or simply required to have the issue and go to the dealer for warranty repairs?
@alexrichard9533 Жыл бұрын
@@shmuck66 it’s on a case by case basis. The affected vehicles will come in with a check engine light and will have associated faults. Just replaced on on Friday. Anything that has a 260 or 264 motor can be affected

@@alexrichard9533 Thanks. Slightly concerning as I own a 2020 GLC 300, and due to be coming out of warranty soon. Any ideas on which models or years are more affected? Seeing it's exhaust valve seats nothing likely I can do to prevent the issue.

Did you re-use all the valves? Did you lap the valves? What valve spring compressor tool are you using? Thanks.
