Just a few comments, otherwise an excellent video as usual. The "spacers" you referred to are teflon coated bushings, which need to be inspected before installation or replacement. If the teflon is in good shape, they can be reused. I also would have checked my fork oil level with an actual fork oil level gauge or another object that you actually insert into the fork rather than the digital caliper you used on the outside of the tube to eyeball the level. Nice work on another great video.

I took my bike to get the fork seals replaced. The guy clearly had no clue. They're leaking again less than a week later. I replaced my own tyres and when I removed my front wheel, one fork leg came out completely! Thank you for your detailed video, I feel I now have the confidence do this now on my own.

+Kyle Walker Do you have any idea why did the fork leg come off? I have the same problem with my project bike and just can't figure out why the other one comes off..

Awesome how to vid man! I was always afraid to mess w the forks but I'm going to give it a shot now. It doesn't look so bad. Great work! It's a $40 diy job vs $260 @ my local shop.

Great video! What made you decide to leave the dust seal.. It's only a few bucks and you are already in there so why not change it :) One note, when you remove the forks, loosen the upper clamp bolt first and leave the lower bolt in place while you loosen the fork cap, this way you won't risk extra tension on the threads when loosening. (Also you can hold the fork while you loosen the lower in case the fork comes sliding out :)
@jameslove68 жыл бұрын
good tutorial only thing I'd do is take a scotchpad to the inner tube to get the cross thatching on it and help remove minor scuffs and dings in the bottom of the inner tube, otherwise good tutorial and nice that you explain that the bushing landing can rip the fork seals. Always tape it or plastic bag it and grease it up. cheers

No Need !! Just measure how much the fork extrudes from the top of the triple tree.. Most bikes run almost flush or the fork tapers at top and would install right under the taper .. Its not a big deal as long as both forks extrude the exact same length .
@Munky33212 жыл бұрын
they're trying to bone you i think. I've got a guy who would charge only 350 for new valves (stock), springs, new oil, and seals.. thats total for labor and parts.. this is for 2008 GSXR600 showa forks (On my SV650, I'm swapping them), which are UpSideDown forks as shown here.
