37 year Laundry Tech here. A trick I use is a 1 ton Harbor Freight hydraulic jack, I also have used the "piece of junk" scissor jack found in most cars. Put the jack under the center of the sump, put a piece of 1x 4 or 6 between the jack and the sump. Lift the jack until the shock shafts are "near" coming out. (or as high as you can without jamming everything) Lift the old shock, twist to the side, and drop into the floor hole, pull it out. Install the new shock. With this method you can actually reach the back shocks from the front, but you need to install the rear before continuing with the front pair. I pull the washer out until the rear feet are halfway out, lean the washer back against the bulkhead. Unscrew all 4 nuts. Drop washer to the floor, or stand. Use the jack. Do the shocks. Remove the jack. Lean back again, and install the 4 nuts. Total repair time (with cordless impact) 15 minutes, Panel-off to Panel on.

The over flow problem, I checked a bunch of things, pressure switch, pressure bulb, I replaced the water inlet valves but what it came down to with mine was the 2$ clear plastic hose that ran to the presssure switch. It was placed along the back of the tub so every time it would spin it rubbed it flat and a tiny air hole in it. But it would only happen intermittently, so I figured probably an off balanced load would move the hose enough that it leaked sometimes and others it was fine. Thanks for the info!

Thanks for the video. I replaced all 4 shocks on my Speed Queen that I have at home that is 99% the same as those machines. It now runs smooth as new and spin out great. My shocks were the 800630 and were about $30 each in 2024. Your shock model # might be different.

@David chamlee that was great advice! I have to replace shocks on two machines and I was hesitant at first just because of the weight of the drum. Between Keenans video and your words I'm now mentally prepared to get er done! Thanks fellas

Just changed mine, I thought the front was going to be easier so I did them first but for me at least the back ones came out and went in easier. Just manhandle them a bit and they fit, I used a 2x4 about three and a half to four feet long sitting on the washer base as a lever to push the tub upward with my shoulder and it worked out well. This is in my home so thankfully I only had one to change.

Hi Keenan, Thanks so much for the great video's you put out- I really appreciate your efforts in putting out realistic, hands-on shots of your work. I'm replacing the shock absorbers in my CTS90AWN Speed Queen front loading Washing machine. I noticed that when you replaced the shocks you only did it on the bottom and did not replace the top rod on each shock. I would like to do that as well to save time and installation hassle (baring any damage to upper rod ; like wear, bent rod. etc.). I've watched other installation videos and everyone changes the upper rod and the lower shock, but I wonder why?. Is there any reason I need to replace upper rod if it's not damaged?
@TheBrummybear4 жыл бұрын
Yep many a grated knuckle, I would do it by either turning the whole machine over (take tp off and put blanket there first) or I put straps around the tub and suspend with a couple planks, But there's no right way at the end of the day. Over fill possibly pin hole in the pressure switch pipe possibly.

Nice vid man, putting in work. For the two that are overfilling - check the pressure bulb, it could have sludge built up inside it or the pressure hose could be dislodged off it. also, cuts in the pressure hose can cause overfill.
@FollowingKeenan3 жыл бұрын
Yea I'm think the hose might be the issue. I check the pressure switch and both are good. What I think is happening. Where the hose clamps to bearing housing. I think that clamp is rubbing holes in that hose. Thanks!!
@lelh62773 жыл бұрын
@@FollowingKeenan hey, no problem and yeah possibly. From experience, the pressure bulb which is the plastic tube that is inserted into the back of the tub at 6 o'clock (pressure switch hose connects to it as well), that usually has sludge in it which causes the machine to overfill.

Keenan, thanks for the great video. I am doing shocks on my machine. It appears to me, the upper and lower unit of the shocks at the rear of my drum have separated. The parts house sells the upper shock and lower shock as separate parts. I am replacing the 4 lower or should I replace the uppers as well? Thanks again!
@FollowingKeenan3 жыл бұрын
I only replace the uppers rods if they are bent or worn. Main part thats goes bad is lower part plastic seal.

@@FollowingKeenan Thanks again! Got my shocks in today and with your video knocked it out in about an hour. I am not the strongest guy so my trusty crowbar got the job done. After I got the top part seated in the shock I was able to wedge the bar underneath the shock and compress the shock while pivoting the shock over into the hole. Your video saved me time and gave me the confidence to do it! Thanks again.

@FollowingKeenan3 жыл бұрын
Not really new horizon washer is $2000 brand new. I would just buy new with horzion washers. They are ok machines with low volume use and attended stores. So you should be ok, make sure its a gravity drain. Pump drain models are junk even new. Hope that helps.

$600 who's paying that? I cant give mine away. That's why I'm repairing them to last a few more years. It would be great to sell and buy new. With low interest now I cant image too many people buying used. My plan is to get 5 more years out of them then replace them. New shocks I got for $24 each.

Why can't you replace these without having to get to the bottom of the machine? Stupid design. Or just replace the internals of the shock absorbers? I have the Home version of this same commercial washer. It ran about 7 years, now there is visually one shock that has the white broken off the top and the bearings may also be bad. For the price, this machine should last a lot longer. They have this heavy duty design and then put in these Rinky-Dink thin shock absorbers and weak bearings. Stupid engineers and designers. They should be punished by having to fix all the machines themselves. Then they will start to hate their own stupid designs.
