Vic if that is not cracked , then you should have made sure that the rubber plug has a small hole in the center , when it clogs up that is exactly what you get , hold that plug up to the sky . look from the back side , if you see daylight your good , if not wash it up clean , get a paper clip and clean the vent hole out , it builds up pressure in the hub with heat , if it can't vent out , it pushes the oil out where ever it can Frank T

You helped me out, thanks for that. My hub seals are leaking. Bought my first truck a while back. Didn't know how to replace the seals or what kind of oil to use. And when I call a shop to ask a question, they act real dumb. Probably cuz they want the driver to take it to them. Figured most of it out myself, just needed to see somebody do it is all.

Thanks for the insight video up for 4 years and I'm learning from it today about to replace my oil seal cap.
@JT-qf4it6 жыл бұрын
Hey Vic, if you notice, those two plugs in the hub are 90* apart. It you place one at 12 o'clock the other should be at 9 or 3 o'clock.You then remove them and fill at the top until oil comes out the lower one and you are full.

I suggest using a plastic scrapper and clean the mating surface. Also apply black rtv sealant (very thin amount) to hub and mating surface. Never use screwdriver to scrape on the mating surface. It can and will cause leaks.
@thereviewer41734 жыл бұрын
Those paper seals are supposed to be installed dry, so no lube or sealant of any kind.

Vic Med so there is a level mark that shows where the oil level supposed to be on the hub?
@vicmed60887 жыл бұрын
shyeem63 yes.there is a marker on the hub for the oil level.but if you drain it completely like I did.that marker is not good to go by.cause you have to turn that wheel so the oil can penetrate the berrings.
@vicmed60887 жыл бұрын
shyeem63 you also want to replace it.if the outside of the hub cap is warp.but you should check it from time to time.to make sure there's oil in the hub

The Axle hub window! It is such a small item that can cost truckers and trucking companies lots of money if it is not working properly. Many operators never even think about this little item till they need to be replaced which can as often as every 30 to 60 day using the stemco brand. If you could cut down the replacement frequency or eliminate the need to replace them at all, would you be interested? Try ZanderSeal wndows and hubs www.highperformancetruckcomponents.com
