I was having issues understanding how the mounts and brackets worked. I’m building my first project car being an na miata. Thank you so much for this tutorial. It helped so much!!!

Spent about three hours on this this evening, your video was a great help. At the moment I’m struggling to get the right side (US passenger side) to slide all the way down, I’ll try your technique tomorrow.

Hey Andrew, just discover your channel from germany! Very relaxed videos - i like them very much! Iam also approaching the OEM+ thing with my NA. Thanks for your effort!

Nice! It's a fun and satisying process every step of the way. I'm loving my NA more every time I do one of these upgrades.

Really great video that gives you a full clear view of the mounts and the challenges with the bolts and access - thanks for the effort you took to record it so well. On the LHD passenger side you can also take out the bracket between the oil filter and the alternator. This is just additional support for the intake manifold and can be safely removed. It's also useful to take this out when changing the oil filter as it gives you extra space to get a filter tool in there if it's tight. One more thing - my torque wrench says not to use it to undo things - I don't think using them for leverage is a good idea 😉

Thanks for that! And you are 100% correct about not using a torque wrench to loosen things. I broke this torque wrench in a subsequent video doing just that, and finally bought a good breaker bar (and upgraded to a nicer torque wrench). Lesson learned!

Cool video and fair point with the assesment if it is woth it. One more safety tip perhaps is to put the wheel under the rocker behind the jack in case anything happens to the jackstand while wiggling the car or something. You can never be too safe while working under the car. Great video as always- looking forward to the next one! :)

Thanks Metod! Good point about the wheels. I did eventually put them under the rockers as well, but it would be a good thing to mention. I was wondering if any of my Opel audience would be interested in this, but glad you enjoyed it :D

Thanks Oliver! Glad you're enjoying them, even if they aren't about Opels :D Yeah, videos always make things look easier than they really are, but I try to show the challenges and mistakes.

The only video that clearly depicts a possible solution to that one bolt obscured by the exhaust. Thanks. Did you have to bleed your brakes after disconnecting that line?

Thanks! It's always a peeve of mine when you can't see what's going on, or important things don't get explained. So I appreciate this comment. And no, disconnecting the brake booster vacuum line doesn't affect the fluid, so there' no need to bleed brakes.

Great job 👍 Probably the best shifting car I ever had the pleasure to drive. How is the Manta doing?
@AndrewDoesCarStuff
@AndrewDoesCarStuff Жыл бұрын
Thanks! The Manta is pretty happy, since the suspension transformation. Still need to try to adjust the stance, and it still needs a head gasket, which I'll address at some point. Also thinking about an induction upgrade of some kind, which will definitely be a video if I go through with it!

Im hearing a bit of a squeaking noise during your test drive at the end of the video that sounds really similar to my car, did you figure out what that might be? My suspicions were the speedo cable?
@AndrewDoesCarStuff
@AndrewDoesCarStuff 5 ай бұрын
Yes! It was the hood latch in my case. Some other commentors on a different video helped me figure that out. Just needed to clean it up on both sides and add some fresh grease to the moving / metal on metal parts. Hope that works for you too.
