Hey Duy, I replaced my oil filter housing gasket last weekend and it went well. Thank you for explaining how to remove that wire clip since it is not very intuitive, I would’ve ended breaking it I think! Thanks again, Danny 😊

No problem Danny. I’m glad these videos are helping. 👍

Hi Duy. Mine is leaking in the same spot, oil filter housing gasket. Interestingly enough, I put Lucas oil in my engine, and leak stopped. It has been about 3 months now w/o leak. I feel confident after this video that I can do it. Thank you I appreciate what you do. Love my ZDX.

Thanks for this video. Checked it out based on your comments to me on your spark plug video. I had already checked the area around the oil filter housing but it was bone dry. So not sure if this is the culprit in my case. There was fresh, wet oil right around the 3 bolts that are showing in this video right on the deep-bulge section part of the oil pan directly under/behind the oil filter. There is not enough oil build-up to drip on the driveway as there are no drip spots at all. Just seems to seep lightly. Do you recall seeing any oil seepage by eye? If so, what area did you see it? Thanks!

Sorry to hear you are still having issues finding the oil leak. My oil leak was easy to spot once I took off the right wheel. I was able to tell oil was leaking from where the oil filter housing attaches to the engine block. It was completely dry right above the oil filter housing assembly. You can try to post photos of your leak on Acurazine ZDX and 2007-2013 MDX forums. Maybe someone has had the same issue as your car. The ZDX and MDX community is pretty helpful.

Did it on my 05 pilot easy fix.

Yeah, my car recently started leaking from the oil pump too, it is still a very small leak, but I will fix it soon. It is also another common issue with our engines. I am planning to do the timing belt, oil pump and water pump soon. I have all the parts. Just need to find some time.

Hey Duy I've just changed the whole vtec solenoid and I'm still having a check engine light come back on i changed this past Saturday and cleared the check engine light do you think i have to give the car couple days to register the new vtec solenoid cause the same code came back on
@DIYwithDUYАй бұрын
Hi, the Vtec solenoid should register pretty soon after installation of a new replacement. It might be something else that is causing the check engine light. What check engine codes are you getting?
@deshawndavis2510Ай бұрын
P2467 that's the only code
@DIYwithDUYАй бұрын
@@deshawndavis2510 I haven’t had this engine code personally, but here’s a good video that might help. Most of the Honda/Acura V6 engines are similar. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qJipZ6OEfsZ2rsUfeature=shared There is a commenter on that video that said their main engine oil pressure sensor connector was bad and when they fixed the connection, the P2647 code went away.

Would this be the same for a 2012 Acura sh-awd?
@DIYwithDUY5 ай бұрын
Yes, this is the same for many Acura V6 motors including a 2012 Acura sh-awd. Let me know if you run into any issues. Thanks for checking out the video and commenting. I appreciate it.

This is identical to any J series Honda engines, exactly the same as a 2006 Accord.
@DIYwithDUYАй бұрын
Hi, you are right. Many J series engines are the same. Only difference I really see is our ZDX J series uses 1 serpentine belt for power steering, alternator and A/C. Our older 2001 MDX has 2 belts. One for power steering and 1 for alternator/AIr Conditioner Compressor. The motors are pretty similar with minor differences. Thanks for checking out the video.

When you unbolting the 3 screws they made a click noise like a pop noise I heard I guess that’s normal I guess it has never been done ?????
@DIYwithDUY6 ай бұрын
I am pretty sure it is the first time the oil filter housing gasket has been changed on this ZDX. The bolts were pretty tight and you can hear the sound when I unbolt them. I believe the noise you hear is called “breaking a bolt loose”. All of our service was done at a local Acura dealership up until 100k miles and I don’t think they ever changed this gasket. I started doing all of our service due to bad experiences with our local Acura dealership. They messed up 3 times. They accidentally installed an oil filter wrong on our ZDX and oil started leaking everywhere when we drove off the lot. They forgot to install our engine cover after another service. The last issue happened when we did our timing belt/water pump, accessory belt change at 100k miles and they left a wrench in our engine bay. We kept hearing a faint clicking noise from the engine bay and it ended up beginning a wrench rattling around.

Hi, I am changing out the oil filter housing gasket in this video. There is not much information regarding repairs for the 2010-2013 Acura ZDX’s. I use the oem Acura service manual to walk people through the repair process. I am just trying to learn as I go.
