Great video 👍 That Poor Man’s Flea Market is Gold 🟨. That Comfort Zone radiator heater ♨️🌡🔥was a fantastic find, now it is ready for service if needed in a emergency. That orange 🍊/white couch did look pretty cool. I thought for sure you were going to make a handle for your screwdriver 🪛 , but when I seen those vintage Stanley handles, I thought that was a fantastic choice for that screwdriver 🪛 shank. I like that yellow and black Stanley handle , I don’t think I seen that type of handle before , but it looks like it was made for that Craftsman shank, fantastic job 👍. That was a great show and tell of those vintage items that are still in a box 📦 and look new as the day they were made. That vintage General circle cutter especially looks fantastic. That vintage Hoppes oil can looks really cool. They make a zoom spout plastic bottle Version now , plus a weather guard version. It looks like great stuff. That Stanley crowbar you got looks fantastic, just needs a little cleanup and ready for service. That Greenfield Little giant pipe wrench will be a great project for the show to see all cleaned up and maybe painted.Nice little wrench. Well again great video and can’t wait to see the special episode on Monday. I hope you have a fantastic weekend. 😄👍👍

Your videos are so enjoyable. In Tokyo when it is very cold we use an oil heater to blast the bedroom before sleeping. My wife hates it because of the high electric usage, but it is such a nice heat. Love the screwdriver. Thank you.
@ianbutler1983 Жыл бұрын
Hi John, I'm an electronics guy. All electrical heaters, of any kind, are 100% efficient. It does not matter if it is oil filled radiator, bare heating elements, or ceramic. The advantage of the oil-filled radiator like you got is safety. You can't really get burned from them and they are good around children and dumb pets. I used to really laugh at the premium "Amish" electrical heaters that were $120 or more. They might look nicer, but still just as efficient as a $15 Walmart special-all 100%. I love the channel and thanks for letting me throw my 5 cents in.
@ScoutCrafter Жыл бұрын
The original Amish Barn heaters had an element that was surrounded by Copper. The copper would absorb the heat and act as a catalyst to dissipate the warmth. When I was younger we had an electric baseboard heater in my porch bedroom that was a copper tube with fins allowing for greater dissipation and efficiency. A light bulb is a less efficient heat generator as it was designed for light rather than heat. They have some extremely efficient electric heaters today that will heat garages and other large areas at a fraction of the cost. 😃👍

I've three of those oil filled radiators. Two were my parent's and I've stored them for now and one was a gift from my daughter several years ago and it's right behind me in my computer/office/library room to give me an extra shot in the morning. Just this last week I switched to an LP gas cook stove (a dream for several years now) and put in a wall mounted gas heater. That is the ultimate backup as it could heat the whole house by itself. I tested it the last couple of below freezing mornings. Between a stove, outside grill and the heater, I'm confident going into winter. Now I need to work on emergency lighting!!!

Very appropriate to put a Stanley handle on the screwdriver since they bought craftsman. You made it better then you can buy. The rubber pedal pads still have the right chemicals in them. In the 70’s they were removed. Naugahyde had the rubber content in it. My dads chair was upholstered in 1972 and is still playable today. Today’s rubber products have a limited life span including all upholstery vinyls. Great show Thank You.

Even the area with the wheels and casters does not smell of rubber these days, which is a big relief for me. Dave.

I thought you would just cut that screwdriver shank just ahead of the old handle and accept the fact that the resto screwdriver would be slightly shorter. Your removal idea is slick. I assumed that the shanks and handle were one really tight molded unit and permanent. The new handle looks very nice and is more ergonomic. My first jobs as a kid were mowing lawns, and it's still enjoyable. I never had any interest 8n golf. So if you needed mowing help with your upstate property, and someone else needed a golf partner, I would gladly help with the mowing.

The screwdriver caught my attention, thanks for that. Question, why not give the old handle the same treatment as your "Acetate Handle" restoration of five years ago? I looked it up with a search of your channel. You mention some sort of smell. I have a whole set of Craftsman screwdrivers I inherited from an Uncle. They came out of a damp bassment. Some are in the same shape but obviously don't have the extensive number of extra handles. Would be interested in your argumentation. Thanks as always.
@ScoutCrafter Жыл бұрын
When they mixed those acetate handles at the factory some batches were improperly mixed and it led to clouding up and a fowl smell. I have had some that weren’t too bad and could be saved by sanding and polishing. However in some cases the mix was so off that even if you get the handle beautiful again it will cloud up within weeks. One way to tell if you’ve got a really bad screwdriver handle is by the smell. This one has a really bad smell so I wasn’t about to spend the time trying to get it to look good only to turn bad again in a couple weeks or months. 😃👍
