When I was a kid (early 60-s, our first color TV) we had a TV with a early remote, that worked with a puffer. Somehow we discovered that bouncing a quarter bounced off a marble table would work as a remote, some quarters would change the sound, some quarters would change the channel. Back then in Minneapolis we had 4 TV channels.

I had a 1974 sailboat with a Atomic 4 inboard. The owner that sold me the sailboat said to use 4 oz. of MMO to every 20 gallons of gas. When I did not use the MMO, the engine would blow soot out the exhaust and the engine would loose power. I would add the MMO and the problems would go away. The engine was 1973, pre No-lead engine. MMO was the cure for the lack of lead in the gas. I think one of the M's is for Miracle.

My grandfather taught me to use Marvel Mystery Oil(MMO) in 1967 with my first car. He had worked on building the factory in Port Chester. A friends' father told me that he was an aircraft mechanic in the 1930s and used MMO on air craft engines. I have used MMO to recondition older engines many times I did an experiment in 1970 with a 283 in an Impala. The engine smoked bad. I gave it a full pint MMO treatment. It stopped smoking and most of the carbon was removed from the combustion chamber. Regular use of MMO in an engine's fuel cleans the combustion chamber, cleans and lubricates the valves and piston rings. I've restored the compression on weak cyclinders this way. It took a few months of MMO in the gas. Good Luck, Rick

Out in the garage I have a Marvel Mystery oil injector. I worked at my last job for 32 years in a wrecking yard as the engine mechanic. The MM oil injector sat in our showroom for years and one day they tossed it in the scrap and I saved it. It is a stainless steel round ball kinda shape with a sight glass and a valve to meter the oil.

Always have some Marvels Mystery on the shelf. It should always be put down the spark plud hole before starting and engine that has been sitting many years. I remember one of the old car shows either on radio or TV saying of all the additives on the market, Marvel is the only one that does what it says. Their advertising never tried to spice up what it could accomplish.

Great stuff and my memories of Marvel mystery oil come from my Uncle Jim he had an older Piper airplane that we sometimes would take it up on weekends and it required leaded fuel but obviously couldn’t get that anymore so he was told by his mechanic to add the mystery oil to the fuel to provide the cylinder lubrication as a substitute for the lead and it must have worked good because we never stalled and crashed 😂

Radio Shack used to sell a "Whistle Switch" Module that I bought for $1.99 back in the 80s. I put it in a Planters Cheese Ball container and added a relay so I could hook it to a light. I tried putting it on the small B&W TV I had in my bedroom and every time the theme song for MASH came on it would turn on & off seemingly at random because of the whistle-like sounds in that song.

Great video 👍 That Poor Mans flea market is gold. Great find of the Christmas 🎄 blow molds. I think that lawnmower would have been a winner, if you had gotten it. That file knife 🔪 turned out fantastic, I think it looks pretty cool. I really like those old metal cans of Marvel mystery oil, The lettering and stuff on the can look pretty cool. We used that stuff in a old Chevy and it did a pretty nice job of cleaning the deposit and sludge and stuff . Just let that stuff run in your engine a little bit and then change your oil. That old Chevy ran for several years after that and didn’t give us a bit of trouble. That Vessel screwdriver 🪛 l👀ks real nice 👍, I like the demonstration you gave on it , now I am going to have to have one.😂👍 That Whistle switch is pretty cool. That bark control device reminds of the ultrasonic pest away our pest control box . They said it was safe around your pets and only effected the pest you were trying to get rid of. Well again great video and can’t wait to see what you do on Wednesday. Have a great evening. 😃👍👍

A caution about Japanese screwdrivers. There is a difference between JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) cross head screws and a Phillips cross head screw. Phillips headed screws were initially designed for aircraft work. They were designed so that the screw could not be overtightened in aircraft sheet metal work. The screwdriver is made to twist out of the screw before overtightening. JIS screws are not made to twist out. Every young guy found this out when they tried to remove the alternator cover on their Honda 250 and chewed the screw head up with their Phillips screwdriver. Now you know where all those buggered up screws and sharp little burrs came from. So, make sure the screwdriver you buy has the style tip and size that matches the screws you are using. If the screwdriver does not fit the screw head perfectly it is probably the wrong screwdriver. This becomes very important if the screw has been torqued in or had thread retainer applied to it. Cheers from NC/USA
@SpringRubber Жыл бұрын
@aceroadholder2185 Agree. My old Acura had a loose door latch and my Phillips screwdrivers could not tighten up the screws. Careful inspection showed the cross hatching on the head of the screw indicating it was JIL. I think the Canadians do it the best with Robertsons.

Ha! I can just see you pulling a cart down the dark street like in the 1800's... Take an oil lamp with you. Wow, those are very nice blow molds. If you thinned down the knife on the leading edge a bit, you'd have a good kitchen knife. The file texture would be great at keeping slices of fruits and vegetables from sticking to the blade and stacking up, falling all over the place. my favorite knife is corrugated to prevent this - It is awesome. I don't think your mic could pick up an ultrasonic sound, nor a phone or PC speaker could reproduce... But my dogs did not respond. Great vid.

Great to hear that your air quality has improved now, we've seen some amazing picture of the skies of New York this week ! What a result with those blow moulds, they are great, they are a bit cheezy, but just right for Christmas, something reassuring about their traditional feel for those of us of a certain age ! Sounds to me like you'll be tucking that file knife down your boot, don't bother this man while he's scouting for nice lengths of power cord ! Interesting that the dog whistle worked with the Whistle Switch, back in the early eighties we had one of the early TVs with a remote that was very basic - two buttons - one changed the channel (up a Chanel always in cycle) and the other toggled the volume between two settings Hi & Lo. When my Dad opened a new bottle of soda to add to his Scotch it mould mute the TV but we found if you coughed near the receiver it would reset the volume - how technology has changed ! 😉😁

Great job on the file knife reprofiling. It’s such a cool design, and I’ve never seen a French file; I’d go the extra mile and do a higher flat grind on the blade to remove most of the file marks up there. I would also anneal the whole knife and re-harden / temper it so it’s less brittle. A file knife that long and thin would probably shatter if you dropped it on concrete, and it might even break if you were trying to cut a watermelon or whatever. I think it’s unique enough to take it the extra mile 👍
