love these videos, thanks heaps for taking the time to do them, I also have a Freightliner Century with the 60 series so everything you do helps me, is it possible to put together a list of bits and pieces you keep in your truck for repairs out on the job, also do you run those thermide fuses, if not what have you replaced them with,

What ball joint press it that? Will it also do s cam bushings/sleeves? I'm looking for a press for both and it would be nice to be able to have a single tool to do the whole deal.

Any ball joint press from an auto parts store will work or you can buy an anchor pin press online that is the same thing but a little heavier built.

I have used an air body saw to split the bushing and carefully chisel it out from there. Does a little less damage

Tighten as much as possible, remove socket and tap with a hammer, works every time for me. Using heat without quenching is not recommended

That tail piper cutter worked well.

I just blow a hole through the pin with the torch then hit it out with an air hammer punch, don't have to remove the dust shields that way. also use torch to melt the bushing out, don't hit the oxygen, just make a line across it.

I dont replace the bushings unless they come out with the anchor pin, otherwise they get the emery cloth and antiseize treatment

Ozzy ô it if you put in new anchor pins with the old bushings and they don’t spin or if the anchor pins have play in them then you replace them

How is that other Frieghtshaker you work on running?
@57bagre6 жыл бұрын
He's doing fine. He had to have a rebuilt tranny put in about a month ago and then he took it to Freightliner a couple weeks ago for an injector and they changed all 6 and the ecm and I forgot what else for I think 6 or7g but he's happy to be going again and doesn't care about the price. I couldn't do anything for him 'cause I'm working too much right now. I pressure washed mine the other day to find out where my oil is going and it turns out I'll be doing a video series on a clutch and rear main seal. Too bad I couldn't do that seal when I did the in frame. Remember those 2 pc. seals on the old cars? just drop the pan.

6 or 7 grand for 6 injectors and a ECM? Holy shit I thought our prices were high! Oh yeah 2 piece seals were easy to replace, but then again they always seemed to leak a lot more often :)
@57bagre6 жыл бұрын
I think the trick to the 2 pc. seal is to do the mains and rods at the same time and then the crank won't bounce up and down anymore. You need to loosen the mains anyway to change the seal.
@williamzoom6 жыл бұрын
Depends on what you are working on and who makes the seal, big block Fords 429 & 460s have a real bad problem with the rear mains if you are not using Oem seals which I believe have not been made for a good while. Big Block chevys with 2 piece seals never leak. I prefer the 1 piece seal even though its more work there is less of a chance of it coming back.
