Not sure if anyone else noticed or if you said something about it, but the first thing to do if you have air suspension is to turn off the air suspension regulation in the car's control system. Also, I do not believe that vehicle is not a "First Generation". Other than that, great video, great work!

Yea definitely a good point!! I’m a new owner of one and went to paint my calipers not knowing I needed to turn off regulation before jacking her up.Ended up needing a whole new air suspension compressor.

If you want to go with upgraded axles that's relatively simple to get custom from RCV. However I suppose the question is do you then break the diff? Probably better to break an axle than a diff

Berg performance is working with RCV to get custom axles, but it's not exactly easy. there's a minimum purchase order of $50k to start R&D to create custom ones.

@@HarrisonSchoen Wow I had no idea, I had the impression you just needed to hand them your specs and several thousand bucks for custom ones. Maybe that's for less complicated axle types. Great to hear they're working on that.

@@chir0pter Yes! a bit more involved since they've never done anything Porsche before. for Toyotas yes, they'd just have to create longer axles with a certain measurement!

Seeing you do that without a jack stand freaked me out. My buddy dropped a front end on his ankle changing brake pads. Got to be safe bro. That would mess up your winter. Nice job otherwise. Not sure why more people can't change their CV's. They're pretty easy.

I’m sorry to tell you this but a dangerous job without a jack stand and a very bad job because the brake line is getting damaged. You have to be very careful because it can cause more problems or an accident!

So while removing the knuckle, the cv joint popped out passed the flange , goin to differential I think . How do I get bck in?

Hey how do you know your axle is bad? I have a feeling mines bad, but entirely sure. I’m on a 06 Porsche Cayenne turbo with a 2” lift 55mm spacers, 20” rims and 33” tires. Ever since my lift and wheel tire change, steering wheel has been shaking even after having my my wheels balanced by shops multiple times. Vibration starts at 50+ even after 70+. Mechanic said it could be lower control arms, but not sure. When raising it up one level, I hear the clicking when turning left on an angle. The vibrations also feel like it’s coming from the passenger side. Any advice or direction would be helpful.

Hmm, you should absolutely visually check all of your bushings and see if any of them are toast. it's possible your axle isn't happy also. I'd be curious to know if it's the original axle or a replacement. Berg performance will be coming out with stronger and better front axles soon.

Hi Jason, I have a 2006 base model and was hearing a cracking noise by driver's wheel and it turned out to be the bearings. Had them replaced, got new tires, balanced and aligned and now steering shakes at 70+ mph. Took it back to the dealership thinking they just needed to redo balancing. Mechanic checked balancing and all was good and now I have to wait until the end of the month for another appointment for them to find out what is causing the shaking. Did you eve determine what was causing your shaking?

I get the jack thing everyone is complaining about but never had one fall ever. Plus I always put one on each side to jack up my cayenne. On the jack points. Yes you should use jack stands but I think the ones that are failing are shitty or old jacks

@@ianwatson3315 I believe they'll hold up indefinitely. on the driver's side I'm still rocking the OEM axle that came on the car new. only reason I don't have the passenger side is because it was so stuck in the original hub that even a 20 ton press couldn't get it out and cracked the spindle. Ohm's can be as expensive as $1,000 ea. (don't quote me) or less depending on your relationship with your local Porsche dealer. You'll also have great luck buying used ones on eBay, and have them rebuilt by your local CV repair place.

That nut is metric...LOL...nice video, but you should dry run before you actually record. It would just sound better if you didn't sound like you were guessing about half the stuff you are doing. "I forgot which way this one goes" makes your credibility rating fall through the floor. And how about a little safety...jack stands, eye protection, maybe some gloves...just my .05 cents
