I have an old 6' bushhog so most of your knowledge won't apply to me but a lot will. Thank you for the righty loosey bit of info. Not knowing that could have ruined my day real quick. There are no through holes, so I will need to remove the stump jumper to get to the blades. Thanks again.

Hi, just for the update of future viewers of this video - I have a JD 1518 with stump jumpers and I just got done changing the blades on it. All of the blade hardware was standard rotation for all 6 six blades. I guess the morale of the story is, depending on brand, your blade bolts may or may not be left hand thread.

Thanks for the update. I think John Deere bush hogs are different. If you are ever unsure usually there will be a L on left handed thread bolts. Not always though.

I am sure glad I watched this video after I changed my blades. I have an 8 ' Bushhog brand and the bolts are right hand, super tight. Had I seen you video before I would have tried Left hand. I also used a 1/2" Milwaukee impact, it hammered a bit but it got them off. :)

Thanks for watching and for sharing that. Glad you watched after the fact also 😂😂. All the ones I’ve dealt with are left handed thread. Maybe that only applies to batwing bush hogs. I’ll have to do some research. Glad you were able to get yours changed out, though!

Hi, thanks for the video. I am getting ready to tackle a blade replacement on a JD 1518 later this week. Do you know if all of the bolts are reverse thread? Or is it just the 2 decks that are counter rotating?
@FarmerHunt Жыл бұрын
They are all reverse thread on ours. As far as o know that’s how most of them are setup. Good luck!

So I'm slow. Just now finding your video but just now thinking about sharpening Bush Hog (yes...the brand) blades. I'm doubting that my impact will do the job. Is your Milwaukee 12v or 18v ?
@FarmerHunt Жыл бұрын
It’s the 18V Milwaukee Fuel

Thanks for the video - very helpful and I wouldn´t have thought to check the left-hand thread. By the way, why John Deere and not Bush Hog, especially since you´re from Alabama? I have a 15´ and 8´ Bush Hog brand and they´re great. Also, my Mother was from Kinston, in Coffee County - Rattlesnake Rodeo country! Thanks again

We had bush hog brand before this one. We really liked it. This one was bought new by a friend of ours. He sold it relatively new for a great price so we bought it. My wife was down in Coffee county a few weeks ago for work! I have never been down that way. Don't want the rattlesnakes either!

I don't think they build a better bat wing than these. We have one and have a used it for years. If the 6220 will ride it down this thing will cut it. Hey will y'all do a tour of your service truck and you are dead on about that charger.

I agree. We like ours a lot. This is our third year using it. It is definitely well built

I just changed blades on John Deere MX8. All four bolts were right hand threads. I got the first two off with some difficulty. Then tried left hand threads for the other side, but would not budge. So I checked the online parts order site for the bolt part number, then sanded the crud off the bolts to verify they were all the same part number.
