Thanks for the concise video. It’s been decades since I replaced a donut gasket and just wanted to see what I was getting into on my friends 2001 Expedition. It took my 4 tries with other videos that either tried to hard to be “entertaining” or were so off topic most of the video, I could not get through any of them to even get a brief overview.

Well done. Best wishes to you. I am replacing a flange gasket on a Nissan. It has the spring bolts.

Thanks first time I learned about it even having gaskets. I'm replacing the flange gasket on my 05 f150 4.6 xl . I didn't know which way it goes because the stock cats didn't have any to begin with. Thanks a bunch

I did not. I had plenty of access all from the underneath

Where do I buy these, just any part store?
@TheDadBodWorkshop Жыл бұрын
I try to buy most my parts from RockAuto if I have time to wait for them in the mail. Otherwise, I go to a local auto parts store or even Amazon if needed. Thanks for watching!

If it leaks after a new gasket, what could be the issue ?
@TheDadBodWorkshop2 жыл бұрын
It's likely leaking at the manifold then. Either that or you have a small hole somewhere in the piping. Thanks for watching!

I have a 1994 Chevy Silverado and wanted to know will I need 2 different gaskets to change both like in the video or will 1 size fit both sides?
@TheDadBodWorkshop2 жыл бұрын
I believe you will also need two different sizes. Thanks for watching!

Great vid! All I've been able to find is complete manifold swaps but I think the little donut seal is my real issue. Just wanted to know how much wiggle room I'd have or if I needed to keep going down the pipe unbolting everything. Would you or anyone recommend any type of paste or gasket material to help seal up and prevent failures?

I had to tiger saw off a few of my bolts... If you have a torch, that might help to break them loose.
@wally7856 Жыл бұрын
MAP gas torch. Get the torch with the hose so you can maneuver it better. Heat the nut until it glows red, it'll take a couple minutes then quickly get your impact or a breaker bar on there. Use a 6 sided impact rated deep socket so you don't strip the threads. It'll come off once you get it glowing a dull red with the torch.
