Although I like to drive Little Red more cause it's more comfortable to drive,…..I'm really happy with the old girls. Glad their are other people too that can appreciate these auto's of the 80's. Thanks for the comment.

Nice old trucks with some real craftsmanship restoring them.i think anyone would appreciate them. Loved your series of videos showing the restoration of them. You sir are extremely skilled.

Awesome you can upgrade the whole truck just one thing at a time

Yes I would like to upgrade the drive train with a more modern and fuel efficient one but it runs so good that I haven't got that happening yet. If you like the vehicle and its not going to rust away , you can make it custom to suit your needs better

They have installation kits that come out from the dash and make a head unit like that work. I had one in my 91 S10 back in the late 90's.

S-10's that have a/c are more difficult to work on than your standard one . They are already compact enough without all the bells and whistles under the dash . Doing a heater is not a fun job and generally I don't like working on it compared to the full size . The older I get the more I hate under the dash work ! but they are nice little SUV's

I dont get why every manufacturer doesnt put their speakers in the A-pillar or the dash like this so its actually directed more towards our ears... Nope, they wanna fucking put it 3ft under yours ears and behind your thigh

I have a 2000 Blazer and was planning to remove my 2 small dash tweeters and install a pair of 2-way 4 x 6 speakers in the dash...I have read that I will need to cut out the in line capacitors ( bass blockers ) or the 4 x 6 speakers will not not have any bass ..... can you tell me how your speaker replacement project went and what exactly you did about the bass blockers ...thanks
@squarebodychevyoverhauls69823 жыл бұрын
It was a standard hook up with + & -- to the speakers directly from the deck . No external amp and No bass blockers .

Use the right install kit it will take up that space

Just tried to fit in some 4x6 Rockford fosgates in my dash too. Did not work I didnt want to cut the corner of the cluster so I just returned them and got some 4x6 plate speakers so much easier direct fit.

Sometimes it's just not worth all the hassle or you end up fu_ _ _ _ _ things up like what I did, so I know what your saying. You can always beef up the rear speakers and use the fader control . Fosgates been around an long time. I had a Fosgate amp in my van back in the 70's and that thing stoked. Got really hot when the volume was up and I had to install a fan to save it from a melt down

The 73-87 Restoration Shop " Keepin em on the road " exactly it's all in those 6x9 :) I have two of the Rockford fosgate power in the back same situation though the magnet is too big and will hit the actual car. Had to cut out the middle part of those long speakers covers with the ash try to install a spacer. It's worth it though. I have another pair of covers just in case I ever decide to go for the stock look. Nice s10 by the way.

The 73-87 Restoration Shop " Keepin em on the road " my setup is really simple 6x9 rockfords in the back , 4x6 infinity kappa plates in the front and a very cheap nitro amplifier connected to one 12 inch audio pipe subwoofer. Never had problems with any of them. Keep posting about your s10 not many people post about them !

Take it from a guy that's had powerful sound systems in his vehicles over the years. Playing load music in an enclosed space will do you in over time. I have a constant ringing in my ears now, and if I had of had some foresight on what would become of me I would of kept the volume down . It sounds like you got a good set up with what you have. Good quality speakers with an amp should do a person well. All I want today is clean sound and keep the volume down. If you like S-10's I have a 91 pu that I did a frame off restoration on 13 years ago. I took it off the raod 2 year back because I noticed some surface rust starting on the undercarriage and didn't want to see it get wrecked. I want to fix it up again, but it's a matter of finding the time. I love that truck and it's been so reliable for me. I have modified the 2.5 Iron Duke and it goes really good. I have a video posted on my other youtube channel if your interested. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nKnKipuiq6ukgrs Thanks for watching and keep on wrenching ! !

Thanks Man. Good one. The old spacer will get you what you want. Like you say you can always put it back the way it was pretty easily

Is the same process on a 03 sonoma?
@richaroodledoodle6 жыл бұрын
Same process yes, but same fit ?,…I would think not. You would have to experiment like I did for yourself.

richaroodledoodle Sounds good! Thank you, Sir.

I would think not. It's going to be a different dash than the 88 so you may have more room. Remove the drivers side speaker, take some measurements and check for clearances before you buy a set.
Wait he didn't need to plug it in u just drop it in?

what i found worked FAST AND EASY was taking a small pair of needle nose pliers and pick out the soft foam in the actual dash where those little plastic hooks stop at...mark where they hit the dash and start picking the foam out with a very small pair of pliers obviously the lower you can get the hooks in the dash the better...it gives the hooks a place to go and will give you just enough room to get any 4x6 in i used a cerwin vega these jbls have a silly amount of plastic on them...its a nice snug fit and a easy alternative to this cluster fuck of a video lol i even tried making my own video because this was so bad...but it wasnt as easy as putting in my speakers ;) so this comment will have to do. hope it helps.

Attention children this is an expert at work notice that he didn't just grab it and pull it when removing the dash cover it's not your dick sometimes you have to finesse it maybe a little warm soapy water if you're replacing the speakers period by the way sir how did you like the JBL? I have a 1999 single cab S10 I'm going to upgrade the 4x6 and the 6 and 1/2 and add a woofer and amplifier and a new Alpine deck period when I was a kid JBL was kind of the bottom of the pile but I've heard they've really come on as their speaker quality has improved.
@squarebodychevyoverhauls69824 жыл бұрын
Clean crisp sound and worth the hassle of going in the dash deep to replace them
