Not to paint the manifolt black? Lets think about the radiator, why the radiator is black? Because the black color exchanges better temperature, because of the higher difference in radiator and air.. It cools strong from 80 deg, to 20 deg, and takes longer from 30 to 20 deg.. because of the lower dif. A white colored Radiator will do much less cooling effect.. As well al new cars have black plastic manifolts so that does no metter at all, a bigger intercooler will do more then this myth....

If a black manifold was exposed to the sun, the I would agree it would hold more heat. Under the hood, the color doesn't matter.
