Great job, I bet you're glad that's over with! When you installed the flywheel and clutch did they have to be tightened to any specific torque?
@CliffjumperCars4 ай бұрын
Yes, I realized I didn't show the actual torque sequence on video. I went with a new factory LUK clutch and dual mass flywheel. The factory flywheel to crank torque is actually a 3 step sequence: First step, tighten to 22 ft lbs. Second step, tighten to 44 ft lbs. Third step, turn an additional 90*. I used an impact to do the initial tightening to get the flywheel seated on the crank before I went back and did the torque sequence (didn't film it). For the pressure plate , all those little bolts get tightened to 10 ft lbs, and I *highly* recommend using blue loctite on them and the flywheel bolts.

@@CliffjumperCars oh good, I thought..man I hope he torqued those lol. I've read that about the loctite as well. I'm sure I'll have to do this sooner or later on my Corrado, hopefully much later. Great sequence of videos!

@@billbradley6380 Thanks! I've got a few more transmission related videos coming up soon (back to the O9A tiptronic auto on the other Mk4 Jetta), and then eventually the Corrado transmission... though I'm not yet sure whether I'll do the O2M six-speed conversion on it at this point, or simply swap in a lower mileage 096 auto in place of the one currently in there that has 217k miles. I *love* the six speed in my R32 but it's also really nice to have at least one auto for driving in traffic, and the auto in the Corrado paired with the supercharged VR6 is a pretty nice combo.

@@CliffjumperCars you definitely have a lot of options transmission wise. I'm glad I have an auto for a daily driver as well, I love the five speed in the VW but wouldn't want to be stuck in traffic in it all the time either. I had my shifter rebuilt last year with an upgraded shifter kit. I forget the brand but it's much better than the stock mechanism. I bet the R32 is a blast, that motor and six speed in a Corrado would be the way to go.😊

@@billbradley6380 Agreed, The R32 setup in this would be sweet. I have the EIP short shifter in my R32, which reduces front to back and side to side while retaining factory cable connections and shift weight, and it's perfection. I have heard of some people doing a DSG retro swap into o1m transmission cars, which if we're being real, is the exact same transmission as the 096 in the Corrado and Mk3 VR6, but the TCU wiring and control would require a LOT of retrofitting. I've thought about the FWD 3.2 DSG from a EOS, and doing the Mk4>CE2 plug and play wiring harness to make it work, so I get DSG flappy paddles and the wookiee VR6. But again, that's a crap ton of work to make it happen, and frankly I'm pretty happy with the supercharged 12V VR6 in there now.

What size wrench are you using ?

On the bleeder screw, there can be a few sizes, just like with bleeder screws on brakes. This one happened to be 11mm.

I know CliffJumper hasn’t responded yet (and he def deserves your attention)… but… if you want some reviews online I am doing a mk4 VW series of shorts where I am swapping a manual transmission into an auto GTI as we speak. I’d be happy to make a full video showing the installation and my honest review if you wanted to collaborate? Shameless plug I know! 🤙🏽
