That was an excellent video. I actually watched it so I could learn how to pull the interior out to get to the top of the shock. I have a 2010 that has a rusted out wheel well. Need to get a new one and mig weld it in. Thanks.

Great video as always, Paul! Is this another new car of yours or someone else's?

That lower shock bolt retainer clip snapped right off for me as soon as the impact tool spun the nut. Also, impossible to replace the bolt because brake drum in the way. So much for special 'non-corroding' fasteners.

Sorry to hear that! Rust is the worst. Remember to use PB blaster penetrating spray or a torch on the super rusty stuff.

@@LabCoatPaul The lower shock mount nut nut was corroded enough to slow its removal, but the bolt retainer snapped off when it rode over the rounded control arm stop. Lots of Escape owners complain of exactly this issue on the driver's side rear lower shock mount. Very strange.

How do you replace the rear struts?

An alignment shop replaced the bottom strut bolts with camber adjustment bolts instead of the top. Is that a problem?
@LabCoatPaul Жыл бұрын
It should be just fine, as long as everything is aligned and the bolts are tight.

Where do you find all your torq specs? I’m trying to find a good website to look up any vehicle
@LabCoatPaul3 жыл бұрын
If you want the torque specs for free, you have to look at various forums online, and try to find a few sources that say the same thing. There is a lot of incorrect information out there. If you're willing to pay $20 or so, you can buy a complete manual for your car here: www.emanualonline.com/ The purchase price gets you ONE car. If you're working on a lot of cars, you'll either have to buy a lot of manuals, or go back to searching forums for information. Alldata has a subscription service where you have access to everything for around $2,000 a year. It's not worth it for the home mechanic.

Many vehicles have the lug nut "problem" fiat(dodge) being the worst.
