Is there anything you dont know how to fix ? So much talent in one person .Thank you for sharing your knowledge . You make it look so easy , But I know the frustration you must have working on vintage autoes . I am dealing with a ragged out 1986 bullnose Bronco , trying to put it back together .Not restore it just make it a safe daily driver no off road . Stay safe .

Great Video as always, It should be pointed out to people that may not know that windscreen wiper motors have a permanent live feed to them from the ignition, which means that even with the windscreen wiper switch turned off, that motor can unexpectedly start (because they try to park in down position) many mechanics have sadly lost fingers and had very painful injuries, the linkage is a nasty thing if it starts to move if you are touching it, so ideally disconnect battery and keep ign off and you cant go wrong. Thanks again for the cool videos

Really appreciate the wiper info. Like most old Disco owners I already have window work experience. Those crappy plastic rollers ARRGH!

The final part of setting up the wiper mechanism has been missed out. Before fitting the trim below the windscreen you don't know where the wipers should be positioned. The danger is you'll allow the wipers to impact onto the trim. The easiest way is to stick a piece of masking tape to the 12 o'clock position of the wiper spigots. Operate them (without the wiper arms) and see if both spigots are synchronized. Then look for the end 'swipe' arc on the windscreen (top left looking back towards the windscreen). Here in Scotland in winter, as I've just done, it's easy, as it's always raining, but for you in sun kissed places, maybe where the dust has accumulated will tell you where the correct arc should be. Fit the wipers and operate on a wet screen to avoid scratching and once you're happy with the wipers arc, stop them when both are horizontal (allow for where the trim seal will lie on the windscreen). Remove the wipers, fit the trim and refitting the bonnet is a breeze even for someone on his own at 66 years of age. :)

If this was on any other channel I'd probably give it a miss as it really doesn't sound like an interesting topic. But you always manage to make even the more mundane stuff both interesting and educational. Thanks Steve.

Wow, glad you were able to sort all of this out. It’s clear to me that Land Rover doesn’t want the average guy, like me trying to do my own work. One would think if they changed the connector on the window motor, they would at least have the courtesy to include the other side of the motor connector included as a pigtail, so all Steve had to do was cut the original connector from the chassis harness and splice in the new connector in and back in business. As a former parts man, if something changed, I told my customers and verified if they had the latest part on their engine already. If they did all they needed was the latest part. If they were replacing an original component then I would say in addition to this new part, you’re going to need this, this and this to complete their repair. On the water barrier behind the door panel, most US produced vehicles I believe have a removable water barrier that can be put back into position and pressed back down to reseal the internals on the door. Steve your abilities and intuition never cease to amaze me. Great job!

Always a good idea to maintain the daily driver but that is the one which often gets neglected. Some wiper motors are a real pain to replace but that looked pretty straight forward. I am glad you found the right window motor, just having to change the connectors is a minor problem. Thanks Steve for another good video. 👍

Good video, Steve! My '98 D1 was a real nightmare as she got older concerning the electrics - windows and door locks on all four doors. At least both sun roofs worked until I sold her when she turned 10 years old!

I would've swapped over the plug from the original motor. They are water proof. A good video if you need to change the cowl or wiper motor. I saw your cowl has the obligatory split in it!

I had to change a couple of window motors on my Freelander and they too came with the extra pigtail. If you are able to remake the connections then the extra length of cable makes refitting a bit easier.

Steve only did one thing incorrectly so far as I can tell. When he discovered the electrical connection was different on the new part, that's when the obligatory curse word is to be blurted out with some emphasis even if nobody is within earshot to hear it!

Good job Steve, LandRover has some of the most "rinky dink", (poorly designed and useless), window regulators and central locking systems fitted to it's older cars. Always failing to function, Lucas junk.
