Can you advise where the actual thermostat is located or is it integrated into this water outlet
@JesseBusse Жыл бұрын
The thermostat isn't actually part of the water outlet on these engines like it is on most others. The thermostat and thermostat housing is all one piece on the front of the engine on the left side (you should see the coolant hose attached)

Odd the naming of the thermostat water outlet

I didn’t know they had a metal one, after I purchased a new plastic one. SO I J.B.Weld-painted my plastic one, not to the hose ends. Rated to 600 degrees. Q?- should I use The New Preston Green or go back and get Dex Cool orange ?🍊

I just got one i heard the plastic pieces on the aluminum water outlet will eventually leak because of course the pieces are plastic hooked on an aluminum part.
@JesseBusse8 ай бұрын
Not sure what you're referring to. The only plastic "parts" are the temp sensor and the outlet for the evap hose. Either way, those are significantly more serviceable than the water outlet itself
@Cammmsmmmith8 ай бұрын
FYI what you called the MAF is the MAP (connected to throttle body)…the MAF is on the left side of the engine next to the air filter. Great video! Just want viewers to be clarified 🤓
@JesseBusse8 ай бұрын
YES, you're right! Thank you for the comment! I just learned this recently when doing some research for a video that should be coming out after a while. And there's actually a third sensor in conjunction with the second sensor the reads the actual intake manifold pressure. The order goes MAF on the air box, MAP on the intake pipe going into the throttle body, then the baro (barometric) sensor on the back of the intake manifold🤙🏼
@Cammmsmmmith8 ай бұрын
@@JesseBusse the barometric sensor, is that the orange “nipple” inside the PCV? I had to clean that sensor to clear P0171 I believe was the code…claimed my cat converter was too lean but was just a dirty sensor lol
@JesseBusse8 ай бұрын
@@Cammmsmmmith no, that's just the PCV (the part I had to recently replace). The barometric sensor is on the left side of the intake manifold itself

I replaced mine with this aluminum part, when I started the car, coolant starting leaking from the evaporator line connection where the metal clip goes. And it’s a lot that’s coming out. I’m not sure what the issue is. Is there an O-Ring already inside it? Or do I use the old one?
@JesseBusse Жыл бұрын
I used the old one buy make sure the o ring is in the correct spot. My o ring on the evaporator line rolled down when I pulled it out so I had to make sure I rolled it back up to the little notch that's already cut out for it
@hanglooserecluseАй бұрын
You may catch that coolant with that cut in half oil bottle , but in that public car park I am certain you would have just tipped it out in that car park and just drive off when you were finished. How could you even take that coolant with you without spilling it? I suppose you could always water the shire plants and tree with it to get rid of it
@JesseBusseАй бұрын
The amount of coolant that may have been spilled here pales in comparison to how much coolant dumped on the ground when the outlet cracked and blew the hose off. What do you do when you're driving down the road and your radiator hose blows out? As far as getting rid of it, I just poured what I could catch into one of the empty coolant jugs and disposed of it in one container.
@hanglooserecluseАй бұрын
@ yeh I don’t care bro, I just tip the crap down the drain. I don’t care, I was taking the pi$$. Ive drained my radiator without any catchment heaps of times. I even throw my recyclables in general waste becoz I simply don’t give a f*** about saving the planet. Everything that goes into the earth was made from the earth. Whatever happens happens, I just thought that little half cut oil bottle was cute

So you didn’t drain the radiator at all? I’ve seen other videos where they drain it & still has a decent amount of coolant leaking out of the outlet. I’m Debating on avoiding draining the radiator. Sounds like it’ll be a mess either way
@JesseBusse3 ай бұрын
You can, I decided not to since 1) I didn't really have a proper way of catching the fluid as you could see. And 2) the car was so low on coolant it was only gonna spill out a little bit anyway

So I did this, and no more leaks.. I did have an issue after which was the fan stays on as soon as I turn the car on. (Again no leaks or overheating) I put the old sensor back on and it continued. Does any one have any ideas on what it could possibly be?

disconnect your negative battery terminal for 10-20min and then reconnect, clear the codes with a handheld reader if there are any, after that start the car up and it should be fixed. (Your engine computer just needs to be reset most likely). If that doesn't fix it replace your thermostat. @@GalvanTheGreat123
