First I'm not defending Woody but reading comments about Woody making Douglas and Saleh scapegoats is absurd. He gave Douglas 6 years and he failed to come up with one winning season Saleh got 4 and of course didn't have one winning season. The reason someone like Vrabel is interested is giving GM's and coaches time to build the team is as important as any other aspect. How many owners would have given Douglas 6 years?

i think you need to start at the top (GM and Coach) ... then completely clean house ... I mean if good players are there now ... keep them .. .but give the GM and Coach really have full control to "roll up their sleeves" and do what they have to, to build a winning CULTURE There. I think the Lions and they rebuilt are a great example

Joe Brady should have shot up our list of HCs. After watching that offence completely punish us and how they’ve been all season I don’t know how anyone can’t think of him as a serious candidate for the role. It’s not just Allen being an MVP front runner since he took over, its how he schemes the OLine in pass protection and the ground game, it’s how he’s used James Cook (Breece would be the best RB in the league under Brady), how he gets young guys to be effective in the offence. The guy knows toughness, he knows player development, and now he’s proven he knows winning football.

Imo... can't go with a 1st timer... we need an experienced HC, that said, not Rivera, but never hurts to get insight from former coaches.

while i cant talk about his team in Washington to be fair ... As a Buc fan, I saw Coach Ron repeatedly and I respect him ... I really do .... i cant excuse him of everything but the former Washington owner was known (in south FL now but I grew up in VA ) to keep interfering on things. off the top of my head Coach Ron (in a similar camp to Coach Campbell in my view) is the TYPE Of guy that team needs. Hell my Bucs MAY BE moving on even if we make the playoffs ... ALOT Of fans are behind hiring our OC Liam Coen at HC and to keep him from leaving like Coach Canales
@Xmetalfanx18 күн бұрын
I like Ron .... but i am open to hearing all the options ... I cant make excuses for him in Washington ... I think there were other factors at play to keep Washington down. I DO COMPLETELY agree with you on it being more ideal to hire the GM first before the HC

Thoughts on Mike Mccarthy as next Jets head coach if he is let go by the cowboys. I feel that he would be a good offesive minded head coach to develop a quarterback. Dak played really well in his system and was an mvp candidate years ago. And cooper rush is playing decent as well

Woody is undoubtably trash. Calling Douglas a “scapegoat” despite being a the guy who made all the decisions for 6 years is just dumb. We can’t let the coaches and GM off the hook for incompetence.

This team I have been watching for 59 years is River boat Ron is not the answer I am now 67 same old situations season after season Let’s go Jets be the winner
@JohnUSA718 күн бұрын
The brainless Jets worry me a lot. Ron Rivera is not our good future Head Coach, his record is poor, we must do better. Who in his right mind at the Jets wanted to interview a losing coach? This is a very bad sign and it is not promising at all. The brainless Jets must FIRST find and hire a good GM. Then you start looking for the new Head Coach. The Jets are doing everything wrong and it shows that we fans are still going to suffer and endure many more painful and losing seasons. I wish I had the power to replace our very poor owner, Woody Johnson, as all these problems start with him.
@MrBrunoGI18 күн бұрын
I thought they interviewed him already, they need to get this done asap to comply with the Rooney rule and hire the real candidate.
@jballen_7417 күн бұрын
I think we both know already Woody is calling the shots before and after the hire which has been part of the issue . I like Riverboat but I’m not feeling it for this situation. I think Vrabel is our guy moving forward. I’m scared about the whole Rodgers thing and all the rumors that are connected,Vrabel will probably want Rodgers to stay, but also if he doesn’t we could have a top pick for a QB, down side is there really isn’t one worth taking at such a high pick. I’m hoping we somehow get a top 3-5 pick when it’s all said and done and we trade out for capital draft assets. We need so much, and not just plug in scrubs or what are we doing?
@GRudeger18 күн бұрын
So many ppl saying "hell no." Just consider, these interviews will extend to OC and DC positions as well. Just because you don't like someone as a HC, doesn't mean the Jets shouldn't interview him/her. Also, this is 1 step toward fulfilling the Rooney rule, as sad as that is.

Q: What to the Jets, Giants, and Browns have in common? A1: Besides having a massively disappointing 2024 season, and lousy front offices, all three had the top picks in the 2018 (Mayfield, Barkley, and Darnold). A2: The Jets, Giants, and Browns let each of these top draft picks go, and now Mayfield, Barkley, and Darnold are now leading their teams to the playoffs. A3: In addition to drafting Mayfield, Darnold and Barkley, all three teams passed on Josh Allen who went to Buffalo after the Bills wisely traded away their 1st, and two 2nd picks to Tampa Bay to move up and get Allen. Just goes to show that the Jets, Giants, and Browns are run by incompetents. It's also funny that the Bills let Ken Dorsey go to Cleveland and let Schoen & Daboll walk to the Giants AND GOT BETTER A4: The Jets, Giants, and Browns let Belichick walk away to win six SBs in New England, more than the NYJ, NYG and CLEV combined. Just sayin...

I have respect for Rivera but he is a yes man, was for Dan Snyder too. Same with Mike McCarthy if he were to be fired. These aren't the types of coaches that the Jets need in my opinion. They need someone who is not gonna tolerate Woody's bs and tell him that he controls the team, not Woody.
@kdude2518 күн бұрын
Rivera would definitely get the respect of the players. But i think the game has passed him by. I would rather go in a different direction. But Rivera will always have his players back and their respect. Thats a posituve attribute. But im not sold on him at this point. 10 years ago, yes absolutely. But not at this point.

Rivera is not getting the job. He's a football lifer who the Jets will bring in and get his opinion on the roster, game plan and what he would do differently. They have their top five maybe someone else gets in if he is amazing in his first interview. Half these candidates will be brought in for their assessment of the team

Jets deserve better than Ron. Ron's optimism clouded his judgement. He thought Dwayne Haskins/Ryan Fitzpatrick/Carson Wentz/Sam Howell were the answer in Washington. He drafted Emmanuel Forbes over Christian Gonzalez. He drafted Jamin Davis/Jahan Dotson way ahead of consensus boards. Players will tell you how big of a difference Dan Quinn has made in Washington compared to Ron.

Nothing sounds exciting, NO ONE SHOULD COME HERE, woody is the problem, im convinced if he doesn't leave nothing will change. If I was one of these good candidates I WOULD NOT COME HERE AT ALL NO MATTER WHAT. And, Especially, if Garrett Wilson ask for a trade and we let him leave. I'm so close to being done bro. I am not sold on this team being able to find the right guys. I can see more disasters before things get better. This might take not just a season, but at least five. Our culture blows and Woody can't fix that. Nor do I think he can hire people that could. Jacksonville and Cleveland and even the Giants will get back to the playoffs before the Jets will. GM is who hires the coach, why are they forcing a coach onto a GM? At least Jerry Jones won 3 Super Bowls.
@MalEvansUSA17 күн бұрын
Saleh was more interested in Gaza and Lebanon 🇱🇧 than coaching the New York jets. They fired his ass so he can coach the Syria 🇸🇾 maulers in the Middle East league
