No. It was after AJ Brown publicly spoke about how his meeting with J-Rob went that got J-Rob fired. He made it seem like there was No Way they would ever even discuss keeping him, that it was Already Decided. AJ felt that he had a good relationship & wanted to return - - _until_ he met with J-Rob. Ownership didn't ask for reports & are still very hands-off. It was only after hearing how J-Rob *misrepresented their interests this way* that they finally started looking at the other stuff.

People forget some of Vrabel’s awful on-field decisions like 2020 playoffs punting to the ravens from their 40 on 4th and 2 with 3 minutes left down 4 points, or his horrible handling of kickers in 2019, but I was okay with keeping him or moving on from him. He at least brought a tough, winning culture that we hadn’t had in 10+ years. But nothing could prepare me for the incompetence at every level exemplified by Brian Callahan this season. Whatever the right decision is, you could be sure he’d make the wrong one. He’s great in press conferences, very articulate and clearly intelligent, but he’s in WAY over his head. And I cannot believe we kept him after finishing the season the way we did. It’s gonna be a rough ‘nother few years :(

>Fire your GM in the middle of the season because a bad trade he made embarrassed you head-to-head and because the coach resented him for it. >Refuse to acknowledge the trade was made in part because ownership hadn’t been abundantly clear that money shouldn’t be an issue with said WR (oh and AJB wanted less than the going rate to stay in Tennessee LMAO). >Fire a winning coach that outperforms the roster he is given every season because he wants input on the next GM and roster management. >Hire a GM, have him draft a new “franchise QB”, let him tear down the roster & let legends walk, let him hire his coach, and give him a boatload of money to spend in Free Agency. >Then, fire the GM that hired the coach and put the new expensive team together after its first season together because ??? they sucked? I was on board with firing Jon Robinson. With how the relationship with Vrabel soured and under the guise of not wanting to concentrate power under one guy, I was fine with letting him go. But I was made they did not trade him and get a return for a hot commodity. I was on board with drafting Levis in the 2nd. I liked what Carthon did in his 2 drafts, FA periods, and with the trades he made overall. I liked hiring Callahan and especially loved seeing he got his elite OL coach dad to come with. Hell, I even liked the DC hire after he’d coached the #1 Pass Defense and #1 and #2 overall defenses in the 2 prior seasons. The new GM will almost certainly fire the entire staff and tear down the roster in the next 18 months. Sometimes, change is good. The Titans are just changing for the sake of it now. Hope is lost

This is wrong top to bottom. Jrob was fired because he had sucked for years and rode a lucky 2019 draft and Ryan Tannehill for years. Jrob was given free reigns on spending his entire career here he refused to pay anyone it wasn’t just Aj he was cocky and believed he could replace anyone via the draft and couldn’t. He didn’t even offer contracts to Jack Conklin, Jonnu Smith and Corey Davis all huge parts of their play off success and division titles. It’s no one’s fault but Jrob that he left Aj walk and got fired for imploding a play off roster. Vrabel has a .538 HC record calling that a winning record is technically correct but silly. He inherited a play off winning roster and couldn’t get them to the top he couldn’t identify good coordinators and was too loyal to his buddies. He didn’t “just want input on gm and roster” he wanted to be the defacto gm and when they hired a gm demanded they then hire a boss for the gm that he could end around the new gm with. Vrabel was power tripping and hadn’t had the success to pull it off. Ran didn’t draft the next franchise qb he took a flier on Levis in the second round and they didn’t tear down anything or let legend walk. Henry wanted to leave he had no intentions of staying he knew the team was heading to a rebuild and he was too old to outlast it. Blaming that on ownership or Ran is idiotic like everything else you’ve said and just plain wrong.

Vrabel isn’t perfect, but he definitely wasn’t the biggest problem. His OC hires weren’t good, and that bled into his handling of the QB position. From reports, barely any young QB development occurred under Vrabel, if you weren’t the starter you didn’t get reps. That’s not how you handle project QBs. Robinson needed to be fired, that was the right decision. You can’t move trade away your best receiver who’s only in year 3 without the approval of the head coach. He also built a horrible offensive line. Those are fireable offenses and getting him out before he starts making self preservation moves was the right call.
@thomasadams9395

The reasons you mentioned are precisely why I think moving on from vrabel was the correct decision.Just because Callahan has been bad doesn’t make it a bad decision to move on from vrabel.He’s a good coach, but I don’t think the team was going anywhere with him.I truly believe we had reached our ceiling with vrabel.That’s why I’m hesitant of him in New England just because of how similar of a spot there in.
@jcore0981
@jcore0981 2 сағат бұрын
@thomasadams9395 I'd have to disagree with that sentiment. Vrabel got pretty much the best out of Ryan Tannehill for 5 seasons. You have to remember that Tannehill's career was basically dead when he arrived in Tennessee. Vrabel turned him into a multi year starter. With Levis, not that he couldn't have been a good qb, but I was never impressed by Levis. He was a deep ball specialist, and that was kinda it. I'm not sure how much you could've really developed Levis all things considered. Drake Maye is undoubtedly the best QB Vrabel has ever worked with and while, of course, there's a chance he doesn't develop him properly, I think he is marble that Vrabel never had to sculpt.

I disagree with your criticism of the Jon Robinson firing. Jon had taken a super bowl caliber roster with a HOF running back, all pro wr and pro bowl DT and failed to upgrade the QB position for years, failed to hit on first round picks and failed to capitalize on a super bowl window and traded AJ Brown just to have Burks be nothing. If anyone has deserved to be fired its him. I gotta say tho, firing Ran was stupid. You cant give a GM only one year and be surprised he does not succeed with a roster that failed the previous year.

The 2023 Texans and the 2024 Commanders WERE dysfunctional the previous year of their drafts, though. Both teams just struck gold with getting good, ironically both defensive minded, HCs in DeMeco Ryans for the Texans and Dan Quinn for the Commanders, alongside arguably the best QBs in their respective drafts. Getting a capable HC and stud QB in the same year can turn a franchise from dysfunctional to solid in 1 year. The change in ownership, GM, and more, for the Commanders certainly helped too

I'm playing into history with this one, but I think the Titans can try to trade that 1st overall pick for a draft package. There is bound to be a team that really wants to go first, so the Titans have some leverage to get the haul of draft picks they wanted. A history lesson: the Jared Goff pick was actually the property of the Titans, and the Rams gave up quite a bit to get that golden ticket. The Titans managed to get serviceable careers from guys like Jack Conklin, Corey Davis, Jonnu Smith, but more importantly, Derrick Henry (the 45th overall pick used to select him originally belonged to the Rams). However, the Titans erred by not capitalizing when their competing window was wide open, and even worse, all 4 left in free agency, so the Titans ended up with nothing to show for despite getting all that draft capital from the Rams. If the Titans want to go this route again, they absolutely can, but hopefully they learn from their mistakes this time round. Once again, there will be teams that are eager for that golden ticket, so the Titans can leverage that into a draft haul for their rebuild. The key is to play their cards right.

All correct with a big caveat: the AJ brown trade is the single worst trade in franchise history, and in my mind is a top 5 worst trade in nfl history. Trading the best wr in franchise history before he turns 25 is literally crazy. Jon Robinson also failed in the first round of the draft three years running trying to fill major needs (‘22 treylon Burks, ‘21 Caleb Farley, ‘20 Isaiah Wilson) which decimated the teams talent. All of this started with the start of COVID and the remote 2020 draft, and almost five years later we are still suffering from the personnel decisions of Jon Robinson. Ran did well to use his two first rounders on the O line, but when he was hired he ceded a lot of his power and responsibility to two AGM’s below him, one being Chad Brinker, who it took two years to show ownership that he was worthy of taking charge of the franchise.

The Titans suffer from there being no coherent plan or vision that everyone is on the same page with. A ton of these original issues could have been handled if the front office sat the owner and coach down and let them know that the core aside from AJ Brown had aged out and it was time to sell high and jump start a reset. It's pretty clear the GM did not do that and just kick started a rebuild without any buy in from anyone.

Unfortunately NFL fans will always have unrealistic expectations. Washington hit a home run when signing Adam Peters as GM, picking Dan Quinn as HC and then having Jayden Daniels exceed expectations. After last year Houston have the same success with CJ Stroud, NFL fans will expect rookie Quarterbacks to lead their teams to the playoffs. As a Washington fan, I’m hoping that they hoist the Lombardi this year. However that would definitely make life unbearable for all future rookie quarterbacks

I think the HC/GM combo comment is underappreciated point you keep driving home in your videos. It's not just, GM who comes in with an established HC but also the inverse. Think about as an example Rex Ryan with the Jets, the last playoff team was with his rosters. When it was clear they needed to reload for his team and scheme, the new GM in Idzik not only jettisoned or traded away players like Hall of Fame caliber CB Darrell Revis, but also left the roster totally barren of talent (the infamous 12 pick draft known as "The Idzik 12" in which most players were out of the league entirely within a couple years) and ignored requests by Rex to draft or trade up for specific players (such as Odell Beckham Jr whose first few years in the league were very impressive before tailing off due to injuries and lesser production). That relationship likely damaged the Jets roster and potential going forward and they've been missing out on the postseason ever since that decision. I'm sure there's other examples people want to use but I don't think my example is a bad one.

Back to back picks on Oline is how you should build a team (look at eagles), Calvin Ridley is very good, and defense played really well. Also have two great RBs that replenishes Henry. Sadly it's a bad QB draft class but don't force yourself to take one with a solid QB free agent class

Bro said one bad trade like trading AJ Brown was a little slip up I don’t know why you are defending Jon Robinson so hard because after the amazing 2019 draft where he drafted Jeffery Simmons AJ Brown Amani Hooker he went 3 straight drafts without drafting a starter the Jon Robinson firing was completely justifiable Vrabel was fired because he just runs on 1st and 2nd down and then throws as a last resort he coached like it was the 1980s he is a good coach but the titans needed to move on to a more modern coach the ran firing was handled poorly tho from a PR perspective but going all in on will levis was not the right move other than that though the points you made were spot on to be honest

Yeah no you were doing good until the Jrob part he lucked into a great 2019 draft and then lucked into Tannehill having a career resurgence and bought him time. Jrob refused to pay any of the titans players coming off an AFC championship run he didn’t even talk with pro bowl RT Jack Conklin, starting TE Jonnu Smih and Wr2 Corey Davis along with half the defense. He couldn’t solve the pass rush issue in a pass rush free agency where Hendrickson was on the market Jrob signed and over paid Bud Dupree about three days into the off season coming off a torn Acl. He let the most talented wr in franchise history walk over a few million dollars and then tried to replace him first round Bust Burks. He drafted Isiah Wilson in the first round to replace previously mentioned Conklin and Wilson never played a single snap at RT. He drafted Dillon Radunz early second round to replace Wilson who was replacing Conklin and Radunz after 4 years finally started at guard this year. Jrob deserved to he fired he deserved it. Vrabel got himself fired he pushed himself out. In the middle of his second losing season in a row where the team appeared to be getting worst by the week he flew to New England and kissed Krafts ass and didn’t notify the team or ownership and didn’t address it when returning. Then finished with a losing record and after the season pushed for more power and control. He wanted to be HC/GM and was told no then when they hired Ran he wanted ownership to hire a boss over Ran and himself who Vrabel would answer to himself so he wanted his boss to hire a boss for his boss to be his bosses boss.

#1 - Plug as many holes as you can in FA. Especially OL and QB. Bring in a veteran QB. It doesn't have to be some ultra-high dollar, high-profile guy. #2 - trade down.....if able. Hopefully just far enough to still get whomever is left out of Hunter, T Mc, Carter, Graham, Banks/Campbell/Simmons. If they can't trade down, go BPA. Side note, try to get some draft capital for 2026. We can't predict the future, but it'd be nice to have some flexibility for next yr's draft.....perhaps for a QB. #3 - Still look to draft a QB at some point this yr. Of the top 10 QB's statistically from 2004-2024: 34% of the 61 QB's were top 5 draft picks. 23% were 1st rd picks outside the top 5. 33% were 3rd rd or after. Todd McShay recently laid out a draft blueprint that I think the Titans should follow. The better programs recently: Eagles, Chiefs, Ravens, Bills, etc. These programs have drafted heavily along the OL/DL......while taking a QB every few yrs no matter. For example, the Eagles took Wentz/Foles/Barclay/Thorson/Hurts/McKee over the last decade.

I kind of agree but at the same time it’s pretty clear that levis isn’t going to work in Tennessee, at least not with the current organization. I think levis can be a good qb if he cuts down on the bad wtf plays, because he’s actually pretty decent when he plays turnover free. However i have no faith in brian callahan with the uninspiring and undisciplined performances his team had week in week out. I wouldn’t do this unless somebody gives a nice haul, and even then pick a qb in the 2nd or 3rd round like maybe a dillion gabriel, will howard, or quinn ewers (if he falls out the first which he very well could). Putting a little pressure might motivate levis to perform to his potential, and even if he doesn’t you have an option to explore.

@ I wouldn’t waste the #1 pick on a qb this year especially if the head coach is a lame duck and they will be in the coaching search next year. They should just build the line and get some receiver help. They could go after a free agent bridge qb though

Should the Titans draft a QB in this draft? After all, it is generally seen as a very weak group. They might be better off seeing if they could trade that #1 for multiple picks and maybe even a player or two. Take another year of L's and restock the following year.

"Unanswered points" means the other team NEVER SCORES AGAIN in that game. If the other team scores again, the points are just "points in a row" but are not "unanswered" because they were answered with some points by the opposing team. Sorry, pet peeve.

Starting 7-0 and then going to 7-38, those 38 points were “unanswered” until the Titans scored again. If it’s mid game and the score is 7-38, those points are “unanswered”.

@@DeckofLies But Garret was the one who said they were unanswered, then went on to say the Titans scored again afterwards. Someone discussing the game afterwards should not describe the points as unanswered, when he has knowledge that the points WERE answered. How is this hard to understand? If you ask me a question and I answer it, how can someone come along later and say the question was unanswered until I answered it?! During the game, an announcer can say that a team scored 28 points "in a row," but he shouldn't say "unanswered points," because he doesn't know whether or not the points will be answered later in the game. This isn't that hard! And I'm not explaining this simple concept any further.
@DeckofLies

@@Unknown17 they were unanswered. 38 straight points without the other team scoring in between are unanswered points. When the other team finally scores again, the announcers don’t say “we take back what we said about those points being unanswered, as now they have been answered!” Weird hill to die on here dude.
