I was excited to see this challenge/showcase happen until I learned that the sales numbers are a fundamentally broken and unfair metric. The problem is that the sales numbers returned for any car are dependent on all the other cars a player has in their save. And that this means that the exact same car will return different sales numbers in different saves. There has been a bit of discussion about this over at Autoflux's discord. Tough targets are fun to build for. inconsistent or moving targets, not so much.

There's a current development happening in the pipeline to make doing fan builds easier (custom scenarios), but for this time around, we made the bars pretty low. With price manipulation you should be able to get the number you need with just about anything short of a bespoke race car. I will bring up with the devs if the sandbox is indeed not functioning as "locked" and if it could work as such in future scenario based builds.

@@ConeDodger240 My concern is not the specific sales number. It is that because of how Automation calculates this number, there is no way to know what number any given car will return in any other player's game.

I'll discuss it further with af, but pretty much the best we are going to be able to do is gentlemen's agreement on it, and not disqualify anyone over it. In the end it's a competition, but it's mainly for fun and creativity. Nobody is getting a prize for building the fastest car or best stats in the end. In the end I might even pick a car with so so stats if it looks impressive!

For the car type should it be more touring minded or rally? Or is that up to the builder?

For the max width, is it total or just max 255 front and max 255 rear? I assume its the second but making sure since the last buildoff :D

Not needed per say, but I would be more inclined to pick one that had at least a basic interior.

When it comes to selling 1000 units, how would we check for that in automation? Also, are we building the street version of these cars? Or the race car versions? Both?

You are welcome to build the street version or the raced up version, as long as it meets the criteria, the difference will be purely visual. 1000 units refers to a number given on the "statistics" page, it will list a number next to the price of the car as to the estimated units sold. You can try moving around to different sales categories above to find the right target audience, and adjust the price to try and meet that number as well!
