As a therapist, I would like to deilneate a little bit between the difference between self-worth and self-esteem: Self-esteem is externally derived, contingent on people, things, and situations (fluctuating) Self-worth is internal and inherent, a silent knowing of one's universal value unperturbed by our environment, people, or situations. People can have HIGH self-esteem and very low self-worth (this is the key dynamic in narcissistic individuals who conflate their belongings, status, and productivity with their worth, thereby suffering with perpetual dread, attachment, and anxiety for the inevitable dissolution of those things as everything is impermanent (first dharma seal).

It's mentioned in the book under pseudo self esteem: "Pseudo self-esteem is the illusion of self-efficacy and self-respect without the reality. It is a nonrational, self-protective device to diminish anxiety and to provide a spurious sense of security-to assuage our need for authentic self-esteem while allowing the real causes of its lack to remain unexamined."

JP literally went to Russia to be put in a medical coma to deal with his secret addiction to opiates. Think whatever you want about him but he's the last man to follow on matters of self-discipline and self-acceptance.

Your videos have saved me, I listen to them every morning when I wake up. You made came to me at a time in the life I was at my lowest, I learned so much through listening. I know now that the outer world does not change, unless you address your inner world, for it is but a reflection of what is within. I hope that anyone reading this will experience the most beautiful spiritual journey within their lifetime. You are loved by god and the universe is working for you not against you, every day is an opportunity for you to grow and learn. Love yourself🩵

I’ve suffered much these last two years. Getting kicked out twice, couch surfing, working jobs I hated, being cheated on, you name it. These beautiful works of art, the music entangled with the words of wisdom, created a sense of peace in my mind every single time. Thanks to your wisdom, I have since decided I will no longer be victim to the circumstances around me. My apartment with no windows, my spray painted car, and my lack of self esteem are of my own manifestation. My lack of urgency to escape this half-life had overpowered the immense desire for more, for freedom. I wake up every single day feeling anxious to perform, to commit to my promise. I go to bed every night thinking about how I will succeed in my endeavor. Thank you.
