What center of gravity do you use? Does the instruction say 56mm, how does it work in practice?

I will start at the CG dots on the wings. Maybe have it slightly nose heavy to start.

Hi, what about motors quality in PNP version ? Looking forward to see your maiden fligt this plane :) I have ordered pnp because KIT wasn't in stock and Im wondering should I buy sunnysky motors or this one should be good. Thanks for advice
@MrD3 жыл бұрын
Hi Mariusz. I am very close to flying this plane now, just waiting for weather and a little final setup. I have a feeling that the motors that come with the PnP are rebranded SunnySky motors. The motor wires actually have SunnySky written on them, and they feel good in the hands. We shall see when it is in the air.

Quite a kit they bundled together. This one could very well be my first twin motor build. Great video. Keep'em coming.

Thanks Adriano. It certainly looks good, and seems decent quality. I can’t wait to see how it performs in the air.

@@MrD what about an Air Unit? Can you fit one right behind the camera and still have room to strap a Gopro? No without some light modification, it seems (antennae channels and some extra airflow vents).
@MrD3 жыл бұрын
To be honest, I’ve not seen a DJI air unit in person. But I’d imagine it would be fine. How long is the cable between the camera and the air unit? If it’s about 8-10cm, I think it would fit fine. The issue could be CG then. But until I get some it built and batteries inside, it’s hard to give any advice on this. But I will try to cover it in the next video.

Hello. I received my Dragon V2 today and already tinkered with it a little. I'm faced with a little problem and wonder how you solved it: How did you connect the aileron servos to the connector? There is no notch or any other way of connecting the servo cables to the connectors without cutting the Wing....how did you solved it?
@MrD3 жыл бұрын
I just unscrewed the plate and pulled the connector out. Behind it is a servo plug ready to plug the servo in to. It’s 3 allen bolts on the side with the knurled nut, and 2 on the other side if I remember correctly. It’s nice and easy once you undo those plates.

I’ll get some measurements of the spar for you.

@@MrD thanks a lot man . mine is missing the main spar and the 2 little ones too
@MrD2 жыл бұрын
I can’t get full access to the main spar, as it is glued in. That is 10mm diameter and 450mm in length will be ample. I couldn’t measure the exact length. But you should be able to dry fit it, and measure the gap between the foam. I’ll have to investigate the smaller spars more. I think they are glued in to the wing, but I was in a rush this morning.

You’re gonna kick yourself 🤣 I just checked the manual to confirm where the other rod goes to measure it. And all the carbon rod sizes are listed in there on page 2. The main spar is 10 x 405mm and the two smaller rods are 4 x 160mm.

Sorry, I’ve only just seen this message. The F722-PX-W with a matching flight controller should be fine in a Dart 250G. The biggest issue would be space and getting it all to fit. Did you get the servos working in the end?
@KevinMeyerVideos3 жыл бұрын
Very thorough unboxing, thanks. My new years resolution has been to not buy any more FPV planes unless I crash one of them beyond repair then I will replace with a similar sized one (I have a Ranger 2000, a Dart and mini AR Wing). I do need to get an acrobatic line of sight flying plane this year. Keep up the great videos.

Thank you Kevin. Yes, I wouldn’t mind an acrobatic LOS plane too. A foam one so it’s easy to fix 🤣

Are the mg90s servos no good?
@MrD2 жыл бұрын
MG90S are junk. Unless you get 100% genuine tower pro original servos. Most MG90S sold are clones of varying bad quality. The ones that I tested didn’t even live up to their own specs. The Dragon II PnP comes with JX servos. Which will be better than MG90S. The only issue is they are plastic geared. It would have been nice if the PnP came with JX metal geared servos. Especially at the PnP’s price point.

I am not sure this is the right twin motor for me but the ailerons are of a pretty decent size which I like for good authority, unlike the tiny ailerons on the mini Talon

Nice review, Darren. thank you! CG-marks can be found on the motor/esc section. Little dots. Regarding CG i read somewhere on FB that they differ using the V-Tail or the T-tail. Do you got any information about that? Got my PNP today. This thing will be a real joy to build :-)
@WipeoutFPV3 жыл бұрын
Any thoughts about on the benefits of traditional tail Vs V-tail ?
@MrD3 жыл бұрын
Generally. A V-tail has less drag than the equivalent conventional tail, and is more resistant to spins and better at neutralising them. However, if the v-tail is too small, it could induce wag. Also, there is more induced drag when yawing.

That is not a GPS location on top of the original Dragon, that's an air vent. There is not really a good place to put the GPS on the original dragon.
@MrD3 жыл бұрын
On the Dragon II it is for the GPS. The plastic cap is raised for the GPS to fit under, and only a small hole for the cables going through to the fuselage. There are a lot more air vents in general on the new Dragon too.

I wish ALL manufactures would put the wing square inches / decimeters on the box! Also, you really do not need any control surface throw information when using a flight controller,,, not a pdb......... Eliminate the wiring connector thingy in the wing joint, they suck and are not reliable.
@MrD3 жыл бұрын
I disagree about the throws. Firstly , there’s no reason why you need to use a flight controller with this plane. So throws should be there for those people. Secondly, even if you use an FC, manual modes would be effected by excessive throws. Also, if they are set correctly, the servos will also have better resolution, rather than potentially using only half the movement for full FC rates. To me, a lack of throws shows potentially a lack of actual flight testing. If these planes were tested, having suggested throws for the manual would literally take no additional time to add.
@Mateyhv13 жыл бұрын
@@MrD the AtomRC Killer Whale actualy has the square inches of the wing but no throws either.
@MrD3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately not a lot of the kits from China do have the throws. Pretty much all traditional kits do, as did the Strix Goblins I believe. It's really useful information, so it is a shame it's missing.
