I also seen Brian Barczyk mix together his calcium and vitamins to give to his animals and then I started doing to thinking it was ok cause he did it. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’m stopping immediately. And going to the schedule you said in one of your videos essentially give calcium 9 times a month and multi vitamins 2 times a month

Karma ah yeah it’s quite dangerous if the vitamins and minerals are synthetic too. I used to spread it out quite a bit, but just use that as a bit of a guide. Since I swapped to uv and the supplements it’s taken away all the guesswork :)

Its quite a complex process but this is the short version: In the wild, vitamins and minerals are all around us, at every level of the food chain, from plants to dirt and from insects to water, the Geckos get all they need from the wild diet they have access to. This is as distinct from the home-bred feeder insects we offer them, which have never been properly exposed to a true ecosystem and therefore lack the vast majority of what the Gecko needs. Ah I probably meant using that repashy calcium isn’t good for just calcium as it contains a range of vitamins and minerals (if I remember correctly), so say someone used that as their calcium powder and used a multivitamin alongside it, they’d be over supplementing.

i love your videos! You always have good ideas. but Did you know that you should keep the stone slab in terraurium bc Gecko can choke if gecko eat the soil ( with food) and The stone tile leads the heat well and is easy to wash. I recommend! And sry bad english...

Loose substrate will not cause any problems as long as the gecko has the right heating to poop it out.

Hi! I recently adopted a new Leo and she’s about 4-5 months old. I bought her from a small local pet shop that takes very good care of their geckos so she is in good health to the best of my knowledge. I had a gecko once before, and I adopted him from a family that didn’t want him anymore. He was also doing well, but looking back on it he was a little overweight and had too much calcium in his system(armpit bubbles). He lived to be about 9, but had lots of shedding issues that required vet attention every week. I really want to do well with my newest baby, so she doesn’t end up at the vet like my last one did. The only thing I’m having trouble with is supplements and lighting. I’ve watched all of your supplement guide videos but I’m still a little lost. The multivitamin I thought I’d use is Rep-Cal Herptivite with Beta Carotene Multivitamin Reptile Supplement. That’s still coming in the mail. As for calcium, I don’t know whether to give her calcium with d3 or without d3. The light I’m using for her tank is Zilla Reflector Dome for light and heat. The bulb I’m using is Repti Basking Spot Lamp and it’s 50w. It says on the box that it provides heat, daylight, basking, and UVA. I really just wanted to use this light to help with day and night cycles, but really, enough light does come through the window to maintain the day cycle. I know UVB helps with D3, and I don’t want to go and use calcium with D3 if my gecko will be getting the D3 from the lamp. I’m not sure if my UVA bulb will give her D3 or not. I’m just a little paranoid about getting it wrong and I just want what’s best for her. I can go and buy a UBV bulb, if that’s a better option. I would also like to know if it’s a good idea to have calcium in a bowl in the tank as well. I wasn’t sure if there were different circumstances for different aged geckos. As for supplementing her diet, I figured I’d do whichever calcium for 5 days a week, and multivitamins for 2 days a week, just like you suggested. I’m pretty confident that the multivitamins are fine, but I’m a little lost on the calcium and D3. Any suggestions would be helpful!

Repashy Calcium Plus is a good all in one with calcium, multivitamins, and d3. Although linear UVB is highly beneficial for them, and when using UVB you need supplements without d3. When using separate calcium and multivitamins, reptivite is a good vitamin supplement.

They do need a calcium powder with D3 but only if you are not using a UVB bulb. If you are using a UVB bulb then they don’t need D3 because they get it from the light

Great video!! I'm definitely going to use Arcadia and the UV light when I get my gecko. Ziggy looked adorable. She seems to really be enjoying her DHP. A followup video on that would be great. Hey Rebecca 👋👋 I’ve watched nearly all your amazing videos on KZbin about leopard geckos and it has honestly helped me A LOT! I wanted to ask you for some advice in regards to my Leo, I got him a month ago when he was only for months old, and to be honest was quite frightened by him, so for the entire month ( up until this day) I have never touched him or carried him once, 4 days ago he has stopped eating or pooping because he was shedding, however, until now he hasn’t pooped not even once, I’m scared he has acute impaction as I fed him meal worms exclusively as he hated the crickets and the nearest pet shop is about an hour away, I thought maybe the temp is low as we live in the uk, but the lowest temperature was 68 F which is not very low. I’m planning to give him a water bath of some sort, put the problem is that due to previous owner’s lack of care , he’s very aggressive and tries to attack me even when I removed the hide alone, also if I need to go to the vet, I wouldn’t be able to carry it there! I really need your help (+ the pet shop keeper accidentally gave me herbivore calcium which my leopard gecko took the first 3 weeks)

I can't explain how important this is. Today I got a gecko from a friend. She looks fine and healthy besides some stuck shed. Sometimes when she walks, she drags he leg and doesn't use it. My first concern. When I introduced her and my male gecko, they both immediately started acting weird. They need to be separated ASAP! Breeding season is coming up just about now. They will breed, shortening the lifespan of the female. She could get eggbound, which can require expensive surgery or even kill her. They could fight too. Leopard geckos should never be housed together, they’re solitary animals.

This may be a silly question, but I need some help. Haha. I'm getting a leopard gecko, were rescuing her. Her previous owner can't have her I'm their apartment anymore due to new rules. Look for Repashy Calcium Plus, an all in one. If you can’t find it your options include reptivite (another all in one), herptivite, and other supplements from Flukers, zoo med, and Exo Terra. You need a multivitamin and a calcium powder, and one supplement needs d3. Dust with calcium every other feeding and vitamins every three feedings. Repashy Calcium Plus can be used every feeding for geckos six months and up.

Blended eggshells work fine but only dust with it every other feeding and don’t leave any in the enclosure. And it’s concerning that you don’t have enough money. Do you have enough money for everything else the gecko needs, and vet bills?

I’m working on getting a terrarium with a climbable background and they aren’t the cheapest.. I had spent so much money on unnecessary stuff when I first bought my gecko 🤦🏻‍♀️I’m also a teen so the only job I get paid from is the ranch I work at, and I use my parents money so I don’t want to spend any if I can just use something from home.

Repashy Calcium Plus is an all in one and all you need. Although I don’t know what the ‘Lo’ part means, I’m familiar with the one without the lo. Geckos between six months and a year old should be fed every other day.

I give my baby leopard get go calcium dish in his food I put as male worms in it and also I give him a multi vitamin once or twice a week on his crickets but the calcium doesn't have D3 should my lizard have D3I saw another video where it killed one

He NEEDS d3. Without d3 he won’t be able to absorb the calcium and he’ll get metabolic bone disease. One supplement should have d3. Don’t leave any supplements in the tank. Dust with calcium every other feeding and vitamins every three feedings. Or you can provide d3 with linear UVB instead of in their supplements. You can’t do both though

And mealworms aren’t a good staple diet. Feed mainly crickets or Dubia roaches

My 11 year old female leo has stopped eeating. This is not abnormal for her but its been over 3 weeks. She hasnt lost weight but I'm wondering if there are anyways to get her appetite going

Brandon McKenzie aw yeah it happens this time of year :( really sucks. Gizmo and Ziggy are the same atm. Only thing you can try is repashy grub pie. But as she isn’t losing weight she’s probably okay, just make sure she can lick some vitamins off of your hand or something, so she gets a little boost.

Brandon McKenzie you need powdered vitamins, not liquid. Only pure calcium can be left in the tank but without d3 that calcium dish is useless. If you used UVB, though, then they would be able to absorb it.

****SOS WE NEED YOUR HELP PLEASE****Today my bf and I found a leopard gecko in a shop that was SERIOUSLY NEGLECTED!!! He/she has stuck shed to the point its scabbing all up his/her back because there was no moisture in the enclosure. Do you have an email i can send you pictures to? We brought him/her home to a proper enclosure with 3 hides. One dry with a heat pad one cold dry on other side of tank and a moist one in the middle. He/she is currently in the moist hide. Do you have any tips or tricks on what our next step should be? We already have a male leopard gecko as well. They are NOT being housed together!!

Nope, too small for an adult. The minimum for an adult is a 24x18x12, or a 20 gallon long.

i use touch'n'foam pond expanding foam, and aquarium safe sealant - the sealant is on amazon fairly cheap.

Hi...I've been watching ur video's for awhile and I've been learning more and more but still i wanna make sure i don't mess up. My brother had a baby snake in a 15 gallon tank i think it was a Python not sure anyways he has a heating pad and a heat lamp and he says his snake died because my grandfather kept turning off the heat lamp. He let me have the tank with all the supplies and stuff but i just wanna know if a heating pad and a heating lamp is way too much heat for a 15 gallon tank. I feel like it's too much but ur basically the only person i can get a real answer from. If it isn't enough ik where to put the pad but does that mean i place the lamp on the other end of the enclosure or also above the pad. Im getting a baby gecko and ik for an adult it requires a 20 gal and in the future i will get one but i just wanna know this plz. I'd appreciate it if u would reply because I've done research and they all say different things so idk.

Just use the heat mat, not the lamp. Get a thermostat and digital thermometer

I’m curious, how do you feel about the way breeders keep their leopard geckos? More specifically the way they’re kept in tubs with paper towel and plastic hides, etc. Do you think this really matters to the geckos as long as they’re getting all the food and vitamins they need? Or is it also very important to them to have a “pretty” little world to live in.

utub honestly it makes me kind of sad, realistically they’re just surviving rather than thriving. I feel they really do benefit from have an enriched enclosure :). Could imagine living my life in a sterile tub in the dark - like a prison.

Karma yeah some people will also have just a pure calcium powder so they can supplement calcium but not overdo the d3 :)

I use repti calcium with D3 every 3rd feeding and herptivite multivitamins every 3rd feeding. So the feeding schedule is no supplement, calcium + D3, then multivitamins and repeats

Sounds pretty good but I would use calcium a bit more often. Every other feeding rather than every three feedings (so half the time)

Sorry not related to vid but the only thing putting me off getting a gecko is some species need to be misted 1-2 times a day. If am away 2 weeks say how does one solve this? P.s I could take it round to be looked after at a shop think is £3 a day.

If you get a leopard gecko this won’t be an issue. You could board your gecko at the shop, or find a family member or friend to take care of them, or maybe use a fogger or something (not sure about that)
