Big Mama, they are all applied music professors. And this is a group that has been singing together in harmony for over 20 years. Big Mamas are mothers who can create advanced, mature songs and harmonies. ❤❤❤

The solo song Resignation sung by the third member, Lee Young-hyun, was released in 2003, and Lee Young-hyun is a singer-songwriter who even wrote and composed the lyrics. The reason it is marked as 2009 is because Lee Young-hyun newly arranged and released the sound source in 2009. Resignation is the number one Noreabang song of the 2000s in Korea.

I could not agree more Brother.. there is certainly a place for groups like Big Mama today and I think it is needed to go with the great music of today!!

In a day and age where we are debuting minors for varying reasons, the older audiences are tuning out more and more both because of the (to an extent) homogenization of kpop today and because there's so few idols anywhere near their age for them to relate to. I don't think it's NECESSARY for them to be able to relate but kpop is built on these parasocial relationships with your idols so for the average 40+ yr old person... there's few choices. While the slice of the pie so to speak of the overall audience is smaller in that 40 and over demographic, those are usually the people with the most amount of money to spend. Getting a few mainstream groups to cater to that age range could be big for some of the companies.
@Popz236610 ай бұрын
@@JeffReacts12 I agree, although I think some of the Minors that are debuting are Incredibly Exceptional.. I.E. Kaylee and Chiquita.. The vast majority of K Pop Idols are well under the age of 30, and while that is Fantastic, we do need more of the age of 35+ to relate to the older crowd.. I can hardly wait to hear Golden Girls for instance!!
@JeffReacts1210 ай бұрын
@Popz2366 that's the thing, if the minors continue to be amazing and the sales don't suffer, there's 0 reason not to debut them from a business perspective. The younger they are, the more likely you're going to be able to have them long term too. In the sense that, let's say on avg an idol retires at 27 (making this up but just for this example)... if they start at 20 the company gets 7 yrs but if they started someone at 13 they got 14yrs. Obviously that assumes renewed contracts and such too but the possibility of long term bank is there with the minors too.
@Popz236610 ай бұрын
@@JeffReacts12 Very True.. However, I think that with JYP debuting Golden Girls, it could be a start to getting the artists who have been around awhile a good career ahead of them as well.. and I think it will be fun to have some Mature Artists in the mix
@JeffReacts1210 ай бұрын
@Popz2366 we shall see. I hope so :) Although even that would still favor the minors lol. Oh, you can keep having your career until you're 70? Cool, you're starting at 3 now....gotta milk it for all its worth 😂

Their newest album “Born” is SO GOOD. this album has their solos too and you can really see each member styles. My favorite song from the album is “Breathe” ..i think it’s very age friendly type song since it’s acoustic and SO sweet. You can be a toddler or grandma and still can enjoy the song Miss Shin Yuna on the left is the most “classically” trained one and is the one who arranged ALL of their harmonies
@JeffReacts129 ай бұрын
That's awesome! Thanks for letting me know :) It's always nice to find music anyone can enjoy in addition to the types that are geared more for specific ages. Some of those harmonies are god-tier. They're all good but some are just next level!

You may think that this group has changed the direction of K-pop now. If you elaborate at length, it's a tremendously long story. Because it has to deal with the K-pop trend at that time, the profit structure of companies, the propensity of the fan base and the broadcasting industry. Simply put, the first generation of idols didn't care about their musicality or singing skills at all. They all just lip-synced. Fans who put weight on their songs stopped listening to idol music at all. That's when this Big Mama group came out. I couldn't make a debut as an idol in terms of appearance. I don't remember exactly, but it was probably YG Entertainment. How about we make a group based solely on our singing skills. It was an unexpected success because everyone was thirsty for proper music and singing skills. What was a bit ambiguous about this team. It wasn't an idol, it wasn't an authentic solo artist.. Anyway, after that.. People thought that a singer who couldn't sing could not be called a singer.That kind of atmosphere began to arise, and eventually, the broadcasting station forced them to do live. During lip sync, I started adding subtitles called lip sync on the screen. After that, I had to perform live on stage from the 2nd generation. From the 3rd generation, singing becomes very important. (Personally, I think that's why I think the 3rd generation is the best.) The current fourth generation was in the era of the disease again, so lip sync begins to appear again as it is exposed only to the media. Still, as you know, it's not that the fourth generation doesn't lack singing skills. The first generation debuted without proper training just by looking at their appearance. Currently, K-pop is a little different because it is an era where people choose the members who survived the process through tremendous training. In other words, "Big Mama" is the first group to change the direction of K-pop. Isn't it a very important team?
@JeffReacts129 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching and for providing all of this context behind the group. I agree that they are an important group and honestly, there is a place for these older groups in the industry even aside from the singing skills. Older fans are often uncomfortable stanning groups with minors so having more mature groups like this would bring back some older listeners to the scene too. They're very talented!
