The problem with hitting metal with planer blades is that it nicks the blade. This causes the blade to leave a high spot ridge on the work piece when you run the planer over wood.

Been a contractor for 25 years so I've spent a lot of hours maintaining and repairing many brands of corded and cordless tools. The new tools are slick out of the package but taking them completely apart when they fail they aren't built as tough and reliable as they were 15 to 20 years ago. Many times the new ones cost almost almost as much to repair as buying new. Planned obsolescence. Edit : And they are raping us on the cost of batteries.
@privateassman8839

True. I got a newer (used) Milwaukee angle grinder, and it started screaming, so I tore it down. The spindle bearing was turning pretty roughly, so I tried to replace it. Turns out, the spindle is held into the powerhead by the ring gear, and the ring gear is pressed onto the spindle. No splines, no circlips, no set screw. I couldn't access the bearing without beating the gear off, and I'd ruin the head and bearing in the process.

my best analogy to describe what im watching is basically like if a car salesman would be like; we have new cars that had minor defects or were just simply returned from customers, we cant sell them because broken seals and some frayed carpets; good i take the whole lot; first car is a 1998 buick with 150,000 miles on it, and the floor is rusted out, and a full cigarette ash tray in the middle of the console

Those nail guns have a low fastener lockout. Just pull the follower/nail pusher down to test fire the tool. The single nail/3 nail icon is a sequential fire/bump fire feature. Sequential fire is push the contact down and pull the trigger. Bump fire is hold the trigger and bump the contact.

Sort them. Resell what works and save the broken ones. Theres almost enough there to justify hiring a repair person. The OEM parts are easy to get. Clean the used ones with baking soda and water or even just tooth paste. You can probably find a repair person who would work off a commission. And your rates are really low but thats systematically addressed anyway.

The new looking ones are ones that people actually returned without using or used and were immediately unhappy with the performance so they returned it. The heavily used looking ones most likely aren’t people scamming stores by returning old tools but tools that were bought with a stores “add on warranty” so it’s not going back to DEWALT they end up in pallet auctions. Just a thing to mention and I’m not making assumptions but just charging a battery to see if it lights up is not testing a battery.

That DeWalt 1/2 or 3/4 impact with the cracked drive head is pretty expensive $500-1000. Those 60v batteries are also in the $200-500. =DeWalt is generally 2x the cost of a Ryobi tool. Some of these items will make great parts options for crews that continually use certain tools commercially. Not lots of deals right now on this stuff either. With those nailers, just an fyi clearly you have never actually used one, not properly anyway im sure. The 3 nail select (fyi almost all of these r the same) is generally what you would use if ur a contractor or someone who is working quickly and knows what they are doing. It allows you to hold the trigger and pump out nails back to back. The single selection, you need to push it down n then hit the trigger. It's a safer mode most homeowners should use. Alot of contractors will remove the safety all together on guns, so thats something to think about as well. There maybe legal implications for you selling a nail gun with a broken safety and someone down the line decides to sue you.

People forget this trade is not really about the individual item or pallet but the overall return, this takes time sometimes to turn what's at first not worth bothering with into a win, yes some of the items won't sell instantly but most things sell eventually, a pallet like this would make money... If you can afford to buy it and when the instant sellers have gone afford to keep the slow sellers until they sell, ideally your initial flush of sales pays for the pallet and then the continuing sales pay the bills, get enough of stuff like this and it's a good business , but sometimes it doesn't work and you either pass it on at a loss or wait, that needs the regular sales paying the bills in the meanwhile, John is skillfully "lucky" he's a gambler with a major in damage limitation, it's perfect , for every poor sale is the vintage cereal box that sells for $100 instead of going in the bin, excellent video

Half of the "broken" tools can easily be fixed and resold for much more. That impact wrench can easily haave the drive replaced.

You know you can go to your local Dewalt dealer and have the tools warranted and the batteries as long as it’s still under the three year for the battery in five year for the tour I believe same as Milwaukee but for Milwaukee you have to send it out and wait a few weeks for the Dewalt they swap out right there for you

I really don’t understand why the stores are allowing people to return, used and abused tools like that, and then have the decency to sell them? Because I know my Home Depot absolutely will not return a beat up drill like that

They are afraid the tool abuser/liar will create a disturbance if the store won't take it back or give a refund. See it all the time. FJB.

@@Jake-bt3fc Most of the tools that is only from the manufacturers. They usually only take returns at store level for 90 days.
