Keeping three young beavers healthy and active takes a lot of work and the help of my human family. The beavers enjoy this wet and chilly weather we’ve been having.

Thank you so much for rescuing these persecuted nature's helpers and climate heroes! After watching a few videos about rescue beavers, KZbin's algorithm thought I would want to see men (I will refrain from the adjectives I would like to attach to "men") who get off on pitting monster machines against beavers and their homes. I can't believe Americans treat beavers as pests and exterminate them with great glee. It's not just that beavers are Canada's national animal--although how would Americans feel if we enthusiastically killed all the bald eagles we could find and destroyed their aeries. It's even more that beavers are a key stone species, they have a vital beneficial impact on the ecosystem and the other animals, birds, insects, fish and plants that live within it. By creating ponds, they create a home for all these species. They are also non-aggressive and family-oriented and the most industrious animals. The largest beaver dam is in Wood Buffalo National Park in northern Alberta and as far ás I know is the largest construction ever built by an animal other than humans. And these dams are engineering marvels, with tunnels and lodges and water management. Here's a KZbin video about how beavers are even helping to fight the climate crisis: m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJ23ZoppZ92FhJY These [INSERT ADJECTIVE HERE] men who gleefully pit their construction (destruction) machines against harmless, defenseless, beneficial animals just for the thrill of destroying nature and its wildlife is everything that is wrong with man's relationship with our environment. Thank you for saving these lucky little guýs at least. 💚💙💜

Ignoring the domestication idea these beavers... Smarter than a cat or a dog? I don't mean an empathetic smart dog but like a dumb dog. Cats are cats. YMMV. I'm super curious having no experience beyond telling humans, "no, we're not going to explode the beaver dam" - true story... They still blew it up. Edit: in your appropriate opinion please

No one has really ever done a study looking at beaver cognitive behavior. As a scientist I think that needs to be done. I have been very surprised at the level of cognition the beavers appear to possess. They are highly social, love to play and have distinct personalities and vocals. I’ve worked with seals and sea lions and I would argue that beavers are similar.
@withershin
@withershin Жыл бұрын
@@hmuraco more social, from my personal experience, than rats and probably more cognitive than squirrels no? There's no science beyond my outdoor experience with this hypothesis. Edit: the vocals get me the most. I did dog training for years and after years realized they talk to each other in breathes and light tones. Barking is basically an alert or a general call or the equivalent of swearing in human speech. Yeah yeah I'm nerdy.
