What cage do you think the gerbil gals came in? Also what videos are you looking forward to from us in 2024? I'd love to know your thoughts on what you'd like to see.

this is a long shot. but you should definitely do a hamster supplies at the dollar tree video! there’s so much that you can diy loved to see what you can come up with

I thought the gerbils would be in a cage like the one you showed us. Sadly I was right. As for content in 2024 I always find any rescue stories really interesting. I think it is really important to show the hard work you do and hopefully this will also encourage people to adopt rather then go to pet stores.

I think it’s pretty clear that the son loved these gerbils. They are so friendly! Grateful that they’re in your care and he will be able to rest easy knowing that his pets are in a good place!

So sad, they wanted to keep friends hammy that couldn’t be kept anymore but didn’t see the irony with not being able to keep the Gerbs? Feel bad for the son :(

I hope they boy teaches himself about small pet care, seems he cared about the gerbils and treated them well, except for not having the right cage and enrichment but the parents may not have let him get better stuff for them. Sad situation but the gerbils seem wonderful.

Awh they're so sweet, they look so happy in their new tank, and they look just like my miss Sandy pants 🥰 so funny that you found a munchie too, my Misty Moo used to be called Munchie, I took her in after her sister sadly passed, she bonded beautifully with miss Luna, so I changed her name to match. Nibbles & Munchie are lucky you found them and I'm sure they'll find a wonderful home soon ❤️

eh! today is a good day, theres a munchi video : ) i love the Bob. i have a soft spot for gerbils. we had a small group in my classroom as a kid. in a biiiig tank with lots of soil for them to dig in and homeraised worms for snacks. this was in the start to middle 1990s. hadent realised that it was ahead of the times, carewise.

I have some sympathy for calling them low-budget, even though what you said is also correct. I have two small dogs and three mice. After start-up costs (cage, wheel, etc.), the mice do feel cheaper compared to the dogs, even though as you said bedding and such is usually around 100 a month. But that overall seems less when I consider how much I spend on my dog.

Recently saw one those stupid travelling zoos aimed at children's parties. Guinea pigs huddled together, no hides, no bed, standing on the coat street slab. Just an open-top pen that was maybe 50cm in diameter. They had rabbits in the same way. The animals not being given any sort of private, secure hide to retreat to, to escape being petted and picked up by random passersby. It annoyed me. Even had a young hedgehog, as if that isn't a nocturnal animal. I respect wildlife organisations that showcase wild animals, but this was calling itself a travelling farm yet it had exotic pets like tortoises, snakes and a bearded dragon. Northern Irish farms don't keep reptiles or hedgehogs.

So they got rid of one animal for a new animal? These are the people who need to stay away from animals. That son needs to get away from his parents.
@Jaceisdabest7 ай бұрын
hey munchie! i noticed you used a softwood hide, how do you feel about the risks associated with them?
@MunchiesPlace7 ай бұрын
Which hide you're referring to? If you're referring to the natural wood hide that was heavily chewed but used as a window hide for the gerbil tank, that's a hide from petsmart and is not the trixie hides, as I've heard that debate before till the company was contacted years ago and made it known they used Chinese fir with non toxic glue. I will agree with people that softwoods aren't as strong, however they've never been a problem for us and the "splinter" debate is silly when i've had splinters from other woods, worse than softwoods. I do easily break the wood from petsmart often while spot cleaning them which sucks but then they're naturally burned/thrown away or used as a chew toy if small enough. Some products do use metal nails, however I've never seen an inquiry from hamsters/gerbils chewing down to the metal structure. They tend to chew around an exposed nail when it does happen and that's been on bendy bridges I use. The hide I used only contains glue and not nails. After saving XXX amount of small animals for the last 7 years, it isn't a problem for us and will continue to use said petsmart products till they expire from over use.
@Jaceisdabest7 ай бұрын
good to know! i’ve definitely heard some controversies and i’ve thrown away all the softwood products i’ve had out of fear. i’ve seen a few rescues still using them so that makes me feel a bit better about the wood! thank you
