You may recall seeing the story of Marcus Luttrell in the 2013 film 'Lone Survivor', or you may have even read Marcus' book, but Alan Mack saw a large part of Marcus' story from a totally different point of view. With all due respect to CW5 Mack nobody but Luttrell agrees with his version of events. Multiple Rangers on the Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR) mission who found Luttrell have stated the same story: >he was found by Rangers >a green beret medic helped a ranger medic give Luttrell a check up >luttrell was shot through the butt but otherwise cognizant and ambulatory >there was no attack on the Salar Ban, the village holding Luttrell during the entire CSAR >he had his full combat load of 11 magazines full of ammunition >he walked to the chopper under his own power Dr. Josh Appel, a former PJ, and current MD was on the chopper that picked up Luttrell. He said there was ZERO GUNFIRE AND BOMBS being dropped during luttrell's evacuation. The Green Beret medic, Travis Osborn, who assisted a Ranger during Luttrell's checkup also told a version of events that matched the Rangers' story. No gunfire, no explosions, Rangers found Luttrell first. etc, etc. The Rangers who checked out Luttrell were not impressed with him. They claim that Luttrell treated them poorly, that he could not tell them a single thing about the location of the ambush or even the SEALs basic patrol area. Luttrell didn't know where the bodies of Lt. Murphy and GM2 Dietz were located. And he wasn't sure if Axelson was alive or not. Green Beret Sargent Major Michael Adams, in an article for SOFREP, claims that Luttrell could've been charged with multiple violations of the Uniform Code of Military Justice for his actions on June 28th, 2005

Evidence shows that Ax survived for several days after the luttrell was picked up and they called off the search because he said he was dead. Had he not said that there was a chance they could’ve rescued him. Ax died a day or two prior to his body being found. Just listen to his interview with Anderson Cooper. Absolute disgrace

It's crazy to me that his story took this long to fall apart. Within a week of the event, a video taken by the Afghan fighters was published that showed no more than 6-8 men ambushing the SEAL team. You can hear one of the SEALs screaming for Marcus as well as the return fire from Axelson's suppressed rifle. It was over very quickly. It was even translated, you can hear Afghan fighters yelling about one of the SEALs that had ran away.

@@molotovb In that video, 2 bodies are shown. Murphy is one of them. Just because only 8 appeared in the video doesn't mean there weren't more there. Also, there all a lot of fake videos supposedly showing the fire fight. Just so you know, THERE ARE NO REAL VIDEOS OF THE ACTUAL FIRE FIGHT! Only 1 video was shot AFTER the fight!.

Marcus' story holds no credibility anymore after it was proven to be complete bullshit by Ed Darack, video recordings of the ambush, and Nicholas Moore (one of the rangers who rescued Luttrell). I'm sure Marcus assumes that everyone who wants to talk to him just want's to confront him about his lies.

Anyways, I've done a ton of research on Red Wings and there has definitely been a false narrative told throughout the years since. I didn't want to hear the real truth. You know everyone's all over Luttrell about his story not jiving with evidence especially when it comes to the number of Taliban that were involved, but why is it that everyone else involved with it, primarily the people who went in there and got him are being looked upon as he is? Why is venom being spit in their direction to? What have they done to deserve it? And there's something about Luttrell's story that no one takes into consideration and that's the possibility that he fell into the same trap that Alvin York did, modern day battlefield forensics have proven what the 16 other men who were with York that day in the Argonne Forest all said till the day they died, and that's that York didn't fight the Germans alone while they all took cover as the story about him has always gone, and in all fairness to York they also determined that due to his position, which was indeed away from the rest of the men and on his own, he wouldn't have known at the time that his guy's were putting fire on the German machineguns from their positions due to all the racket from the German machineguns, before York knew it his commanding officers who were very career oriented had fabricated the story about him taking on those German machineguns by himself because they were eager to have a hero come out of their unit, when York found out about it they pulled him off to the side and gave him a pep talk about how important his hero story was to everyone back home and especially to all the troops in theater at the time, how much it was boosting morale with the troops, York just being a simple man bought into it and bought into how important it was to everyone so he went along with it feeling it was his duty, but after getting home it haunted him for years and is why he never wanted to talk about the war with anyone. It's likely the same thing happened with Luttrell, we all know that the Navy treats the image of the Seals like it's a product brand and is always trying to protect it, Luttrell was in pretty bad shape when they recovered him and he went straight to a hospital, while there it was the Navy brass that fabricated the story about how many Taliban there were, by the time Luttrell caught wind of it the Navy already had the story out, and like York they sold him on the story of 30+ Taliban and told him how important the story was to everyone back home and with everyone who was part of fighting the global war on terror, by that time it was too late, what else was he supposed to do? Yank the rug out from underneath everything? I know one thing, I certainly wouldn't want to be in that position, I just couldn't imagine the agony it'd put you through having to deal with it, no way, I'm glad I'm not him, I mean just look at what he has to deal with now and all because he thought he was doing the right thing, and now, like York, he has to spend the rest of his life dealing with something that a bunch of career minded officers cooked up because they wanted their hero, no thank you, I wouldn't want to be in that position.

The magazines story is not completely true, Marcus started the op with a total of 13 mags, when he was rescued he had 11 mags with him. Although to me, 2 mags is not enough to respond to an ambush, specially if you have a PKM pointed at you...

People need to stop blaming Luttrell for his version of events. In a ambush situation, things aren’t going according to your training, and after the facts, things aren’t as clear as they appear. Also remember the fact that in Special Ops every soldiers are trained to give false information during a POW situation. The people that come rescue you could be wearing US military uniforms, so Luttrell had to be smart and made sure that they were indeed US Army Rangers. It’s part of the SERE course. Luttrell wasn’t lying about where his teammates were, he was protecting them from possible enemies in disguise US military uniforms.

Bullshit story for one. 2nd OBL died in late December 2001. He was in Rawalpindi on 9/11 for kidney failure issues and we knew that. OBL died between December 16th -21st and was burried in a unmarked grave in Tora Bora.
