Thank you Clayton. Just took the B&S opposed twin off my mower today in hopes of finding/fixing an oil leak. Your video gave a great look at what I'll find when I get the sump off; I'm assuming that's where the leak is, but I'm still going to poke around just to see if anything is loose. I haven't ordered parts yet because I see B&S lists 3 different gasket part numbers; but I have some Permatex left over so I may just use it as you did. And I should probably take a look at that other cover as well. Thanks again, John

The crank case cover I believe is where mine was leaking. I had already pulled engine and noticed 1 bolt was pretty loose. But it's out and figured I'll just do the sump,crank case cover and bottom shaft seal. It's 27yrs old and has outlived most crap they make these days. It's a great engine and puts up with abuse. Hoping to get a few more yrs of service.

I took compression yesterday and showed approx 115-20 on both cylinders. I don’t have a tachometer to show rpm as of yet…can’t tell if it’s running too high and will need to read up on Governor adjustments. These videos really do come in handy. I know in time people will appreciate it too.

I'm rebuilding the same engine. Can you tell me where to find a good B&S shop manual? I need to know what the torque specs are. Can't seem to find anything on this engine on Google or UTube. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Enjoyed the vid..

Some auto parts stores may carry Briggs & Stratton shop manuals or maybe find you one
