Today, I take a look at a new Reseller channel called Jovial Sells Junk. Another classic example of Gamestop flipping and how messed up it is.

It obviously varies by store, but when I worked at GS as an SGA in 2021-2022 my managers and even our DM absolutely did not like resellers. We had a store policy on Pokemon cards, Funkos and certain retro consoles like the 3DS that we could not sell more than 1 per customer per day. Specifically it was 5 boosters per customer and 1 trainer box per customer. There was a store in the same mall I worked at that sold collectibles and retro games and I remember the owner was so butthurt that my managers wouldn't allow him to buy all of (whatever Funko thing that was out at the time, some limited thing idk) that he banned all of us from entering his store lol. It got to the point where our DM and corporate had to get involved. Wild stuff

imagine a real gamer coming to gamestop and finding that good deal under market value, something they can add to their collection. They would be excited and potentially return. These sellers aren't just taking the games from the customers that want them, they are robbing the business of their potential to make repeat customers. Gamestop needs to figure out a way to counter it or the shameless whack jobs are going to wipe them out. As a rule, I wouldn't wanna go somewhere that I know has been picked clean. I wish there were no barcode scanners, I miss real gamers having a home field advantage when it came to thrift stores, pawn shops, and garage sales.

@@penguinjay Facts. I think the best find I found at gamestop was Rare replay $5 (gamestop case though), but still a good find. My gamestops are usually above or slightly below (pricecharting & in usually worse shape) My gamestop doesn't carry anything older than ps3/360 atm. My choices are usually switch, x360, xboe one & up, ps3, ps4, & ps5, They have some wii u, wii titles, but they're usually junk or overpriced games They also have some ds games, but they usually junk or pokemon... nothing really else

The people who buy games from ebay and amazon instead of their local game store are the core of the problem...and I'm not sure you can fix that. I agree though, it sucks to go into a game store with no inventory cause they've been picked clean. I know one of my local game stores scans their stock monthly to stay ahead of the resellers....ultimately driving up prices, but they do have the inventory.

Resellers are the worst and a contributor to the demise of this hobby. It's healthy to have a voice like yours to take resellers to task. I saw a recent Game Chasers discussion where they touch on the topic of reseller KZbin channels and I felt like they treated the topic with kid gloves. Now one could make the claim that channels such as Game Chasers jump-started the trend, but the difference being they rarely made mention of value and they actually play games.

I just bought 23 in 1 all Pokemon games for DS online for 14.99 & free shipping & it actually works & saves I have had hit or miss with these things but the seller said the less games on the cartridge the better because the 700 in 1 a lot of the games freeze & ruin the cheap SD also they don’t have the bangers on the cartridge like soul silver I have been playing all the games & they save & start up over & over everything is solid AF so far plus seller has a 90 day warranty I will be done with soul silver by than any way lol 😊

I don’t like resellers that suck. Some of them treat people great and fair but these Amazon flippers are not it. They contribute to high prices and clean out stores such as GameStop who sell the games for a decent price. Decent at least in comparison to what resellers sell it for.

Gamestop/retro stores prices are pretty close to retail so if a reseller pays that then what's the problem. If i catch Gamestop slipping I'm buying it and either selling it or trading it in to retro store.

@@chase6722 it’s one of those debates that has good points on both sides. Sure someone in another state can’t buy a game at a GameStop far away but that doesn’t mean we should go in there and buy every decent priced game and flip it online. At this point there are hundreds of people on KZbin doing this and plenty more doing it privately. Wii Sports for example is a game that was printed over 100 Million times yet it’s selling for $30 online. That game should $10 at the most but because Resellers have seen the big three channels “Phoenix, Chase and Rick” buy the game every time they see it, it has became one of those easy games for people to look for and buy every time. Same with Pokemon games. Tetris was also a pack in game, it’s much older and more rare but it somehow goes for $15 loose. Which sounds about right for that game with 35 million copies made total. And I could debate that it’s probably because the big three never cover it in their videos. These dudes are influential on the market. What does Phoenix in particular like to buy a lot of the time? Nintendo Handhelds. What’s normally very expensive? Nintendo Handhelds.

This guy is annoying for sure, but I think GameStop employees are sometimes kinda not too much better. Everyone knows at this point GS is dabbling in retro. Even my local ones are doing it. So I go out of town on a trip and I just wind up in front of a GameStop, so I figured I'd just ask, and the dude gives me a BS answer not too unlike mop-top here received. Employee is like "what do you mean retro?" and then I tell him like old Nintendo and SEGA cartridges, and he's like "we don't really sell those actually... because they're like too old, and too retro... and there's not really any Super Nintendo consoles around anymore... The oldest we sell is like Xbox 360, PS3, etc." That is nonsense, because every store I've been to locally has the older goods in their cabinets behind the counter. I have a suspicion that some of these guys will outright lie, because they want dibs, or maybe their friends want dibs on it. Or, maybe they're so poorly trained they don't even know what they actually have, and maybe don't even know what that stuff is, if they're too young and uninterested. So I feel like your mileage will vary, depending on employee knowledge and willingness. Like, in this dude's video he was obviously trying to hide the stuff, or just didn't feel like working a little harder than he normally does. Kind of funny given it happened to a reseller, but it's just sub-par customer service, and I'll say there's no shortage of that when you walk into a lot of GameStop stores.

I think the retro games being available in stores are only in select markets right now. That could be why the shop you went to didn’t act like they knew anything. But who knows, a GameStop is only as good as the neckbeards running it. Could just be a dud

With his hairstyle, this guy looks like he would be playing a peasant in an 80s fantasy movie (it seems I really am starting to enjoy mocking the appearances of annoying and awful people, enjoying your videos has definitely been an influence on me 😆 ). I also wouldn't be surprised if a Gamestop employee was annoyed with resellers coming into the store to buy up all of the good deals intended for people who actually want to own and play those games since this seems to have become a trend recently, especially when it involves a reseller who goes in there acting entitled and making annoying demands.

I had read though some comments on a resellers video, well a reseller comments on a thread, saying some shit like he was at a yard sale and the owner didn't sale him a pile of stuff but then sold iteams from said iteams to other people for less, he goes where's the logic in it, I replied the logic is people are tired of you scum resellers 😅 people do seem to be getting tired of them 😅
